Brace yourself.....I've got some sad news about my beloved Cuttlebug.
One of my "B" plates snapped in two this morning. I'm crushed. Isn't that SO sad? Trust me, my Cuttlebug has been through alot. It's scratched up, bowed, etc, so it's not a surprise to me she couldn't take anymore. I was trying to send a piece of chipboard through it using "A", "B", the chipboard, and then the other "B", but apparently that was too much for the old girl. She screamed in rebellion and promptly snapped in two. You can go to my blog and check out the picture I took of it. Looks like I'll be visiting Joann's this afternoon!
LOL - at least the plate is replaceable - I was scared that you were going to say that the actual machine broke in some unfixable way! I have only had ny bug for a 2 weeks and my "B" plate was already curved after the first couple of uses - I have only used it to test out the dies as I buy them - last night I bought the Red Tag alphabet set - (yup - I have a flat "C") I ran the whole set through and my poor plate is in horrible shape - I plan on getting an extra set of them this weekend - I know it will break sooner or later and don't want to be caught without a spare!!! THe trick is to go to the store and just buy the repacement plates and not anything else! Yeah right!!!
Can someone please explain a NON-cuttlebug owner what an "A" and "B" plates are? I have a sizzix and so far have used the cuttlebug embossing folder and it works great... but I have to know, am I missing something else that I NEED to have? Thanks a bunch!!!
PS. I'm really sorry to hear about your loss... anytime a craft tool breaks is terrible!!!

The A plate is a spacer. It is close to the thickness of an original Sizzix die. You remove it to use the thick dies. The b plates are the actual cutting plates.
To the OP - make sure you call Provocraft! They'll send you new b plates. Some of the originals were defective. They should wear over time but should NOT break if you're using them properly.

I, too, broke a plate not so long ago. What I learned from that horrifying ; experience is to keep flipping the plate and not let it become too bowed.
Mine cracked when I flipped it over to use the other side and the bow was too great and snapped on the first run through. I still use the broken pieces though as bottom plates and they work fine.
Where can one buy B plates to have a spare on hand in case this happens? Actually, should everyone have spares? How long do they last? Our JoAnn does not carry them. I am having a stamp club and 20 people are going to be using mine. I am thinking maybe I should have spare plates on hand.

The only on-line store I have finally found them at is KTCrafts, price before any discounts $9 for a set of two.
