I'm looking for a cheap source for buttons. I'm not into matching colors across CS, buttons , etc. so it doesn't bother me whether they've matching accessories or not. What I *would* like is a place that sells collections of something like brights, pastels and neutrals so that I don't need to buy different colors separately and at the same time cover a broad spectrum of colors.
Basically I want to get as many colors of buttons as possible by spending the smallest amount of money. YKWIM!
I was at Joann's the other day and say a great bag of mixed buttons. It seems like it was $5.99 for a big bag. Lots of different sizes too. I was really impressed. I wanted to buy it but I just don't use buttons. LOL Hope you find what you are looking for.
Does anyone have a good idea of where to get CLEAR buttons cheaply? SU's end up being almost 25 cents or more by the time you add S/H & tax. I want to use the technique shown in there catalog where you make a custom colored/stamped button for an embellishment...but the cost is outrageous! Thanks in advance for any help.
Do you have a Tuesday Morning near you? I was there and saw a huge container of assorted buttons (wonderful colors and great designs!). I believe it was $8? Hope this helps a bit - otherwise I would scour thrift stores and the clearance section of your local fabric stores.
I get a lot of my buttons from Thrift Stores... big bags for really cheap and cool vintage ones sometimes! I also have a factory outlet store near me and you can buy bags of buttons (all same color) for a buck or make a mixed bag out of the loose ones for a dollar too.
I have a blast in early spring when the yard sales start. I go out looking and will usually find a sale where someone is getting rid of their grandmothers button collection. I have found really vintage and antinque buttons this way.
I have also been at garage sales and found a piece of clothing that has the buttons I want. I will offer them them lower than asking, they usually take it.
My greatest find for $2 was an old christmas tin with buttons from europe.
i love thrift stores! we have one on our military base here and i have found some awesome deals too! and the monies go back into the comm, like for relief fund and college fund, layetts for new parents etc etc.
