I have used the blender pen recipe that dmurray gives (Post #36) for a long time now and find it works very well. I put it in my niji brush, just as I would water for water colouring. (I keep one just for chalks.) If you have an empty eye dropper bottle around, it works well for storage of solution and for filling the pen. However, be sure to follow Cathy H's advice (#24) and use it on only a small portion of the chalk surface. Once the chalk absorbs the solution, it hardens, and you can't use a sponge or cotton ball on it.
It looks like it's been over 2 years since this question was asked, well I'm asking it again - have anyone come up with a recipe for Chalk Enhancer yet?
I just watched Gina K's video about the chalk enhancer, and I'd never heard of it. I too would like to know if there's a homemade recipe. Some of the links to reviews, etc. are inactive, since it's been a couple years....
A word of caution when using the enhancer - it will "set" the chalk in your chalk pallette so is best to just use it on the very edge of whatever color you are using. I got a lot by watching Yvonne Arbritton at one of the local stamp conventions. She sells it and instuction books and also stamps (cute ones!) on her website, www.yvonnealbritton.com. She does not use Stazon (I don't either - it isn't really meant for paper) Check out her website - she is great and service is fast too!
If I remember correctly, Yvonne suggested flipping your chalk over & dedicating one side to use with the enhancer & the other for applying the chalk dry. She used eyeshadow applicators to apply the enhancer.
I have been checking her website periodically & I think unfortunately she has gone out of busines. I have some of her stamps & enjoyed watching her demo at conventions.
Well I dunno about everyone else, but I'm fine. Writing my 2nd novel. Not doing a lot of stamping, though I do occasionally carve a stamp for myself - cheaper and quite relaxing doing the actual carving.
Still no word where to find this stuff, huh??? I got out my chalks the other day and wondered what am I going to do when I run out of this stuff? Got on line to look for it and went to Yvonne's site, and of course, not there, and the blender fluid seems no where to be found. Wish someone still produced it or knew where we could get our hands on some.
Thank you for the info. I was doing my Google search with the brand name I bought from Yvonne, no wonder I couldn't find any places, I wasn't doing a generic search! Now I know!! Thanks again for your help......
