I'm relatively new to stamping; got the bug after attending a Stampin' Up! party. One thing I have noticed is that using Bazzil Cardstock, which is the most readily (and often the only) brand available where I live, doesn't stamp at all well...the texture of the cardstock seems to skew the stamped image. Is this a common problem, or am I doing something wrong?
If it is the cardstock, can anyone recommend an alternate source here in Australia?
I think it might be personal preference. I like how some images stamp up on Bazzill with the textured look. I have found it doesn't work for some stamps though, and in that case, I just used the back of the paper. I also have begun coloring in some of my images to even out the color on the textured side with Copics and have liked those results.
I use wausau from office depot. it is 110 lb stock and works great. it is about $13.00 for 500 sheets. I have also used georgia pacific from walmart same 110 pound....I am an SU demo and dont really care for our white cardstock..but the rest of it cant be beat..it is the only thing I will use for cards now
Bazzil also makes a smooth cardstock in their colours. Hopefully, they have it where you are. For plain white cardstock, as suggested, the wausau brand from office depot (110lb) works well.
IMHO For white cardstock there is nothing as lovely as Gina K's for colors I prefer Stampin up and Paper Trey Ink. PTI cardstock is heavier than SU and you have to work at folding and creasing but it stands up on the counter very nicely and has a nice feel in your hand

I agree. I adore the GinaK heavy (120#) cardstock. I use the white with my Copics, and I love the deep brown of the Chocolate Kiss. I pretty much use her 120# for all my card bases, then layer other colors/patterned papers on top as needed.

I like SU's Whisper White. I think it gives a nice crisp image and I use it all the time. I don't like Georgia Pacific from Walmart. I think it not a nice solid white and edges of stamping have very slight 'bleeding'. Not sure if that's the correct word. I want to try Gina K's Pure Luxury. Next on my wish list.
I have some SU whisper white which I've used with success, but unfortunately my stocks are running low. I might order some of the Gina K paper; a lot of people seem to be happy with it. I am quite envious about all the different brands you guys have access too - something my location limits. Thankfully, there's the internet!

What'd you say, we didn't get it. LOL Gotta love the internet
Another good paper to look into in case you haven't already been overwhelmed is Prism, I personally use Prism Simply Smooth White (great for Copics). Really nice for coloring on & a great weight. I also have used PTI & Bazzill, also Neenah.
Another vote for SU's whisper white - my images always stamp sooo nicely on it and it is sooo smooth - but for my trial stamping I always use cardstock from Georgia Pacific that I find at Walmart - it is a cheap cardstock but great for practice stamping and coloring
LOL It happen quite often on here lately. It just tickled me cause I kept scrolling, and scrolling and it was still there. I really needed that little chuckle @ work. Now watch it happen to me. LOL
Here's hoping I don't manage to post one reply seven times in a row tonight!
Thanks everyone for all for the options - I had no idea there were so many bands. It's no exaggeration to say that Bazzil is the only cardstock I've ever seen in shops around here. So I'll get looking on the net, see what I can pick up.

Always happy to brighten up someone else's work day with a little internet idiocy!
