Default Cardstock and printers

Hi all! My best friend asked me to to make baby shower invititations for her sister. I'm totally flattered but also nervous as I'm not that expereinced of a stamper!! She and her other sister said they loved my cards... but I send out the ones I make in card clubs with my demo!

I've been playing with some ideas in my head but I can't figure out how to do the writing on the card with all the info. If I typed something on the computer, can I print it on cardstock? I have SU confetti cardstock and am wondering if that will make it through the printer?

I'd love any advice!! Thanks!!

Default Done it

I have printed on cardstock before, no problem. Vellum too, although you need to let it dry between prints. I just hit the print button each time I passed the computer room.

There are some really great 'baby' (free!) fonts available, just do a google search.

I've printed on cardstock lots of times and had no problems. I just do my first print on cheap paper to make sure everything looks okay.

Avery has a free template you can download for using with MS Word, it is for a postcard template, 4 to a page, which works out great for just the inside of the card, I print the info, cut out the paper, cut it down to size and stick it inside, works great. There is one for portrait and one for landscape. I too print on cheap paper first to make sure I have it set up right.

I found printable self-adhesive vellum at my local staples too. It was in the scrapbooking section and it's made for inkjet printers.

I've only had a problem with cardstock if I try to run a whole sheet of the SU through it. I think it's too heavy to bend through my printer. But a half or quarter sheet go through fine.

I don't know...picky printer?

That's what I was thinking... it would be too heavy and wouldn't bend.

I'm sure it probably depends on your printer, but I've never had any problems. I printed the insides of my SIL's baby shower invites in my printer. I also printed "your invited" several times on cardstock, then stamped a hand print over it. That was where I ran into a (small) problem. Even if I let the ink dry, it still came off on my stamp, so I had to clean the stamp before using it for the next one.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine. The avery template is awesome too!
