I am getting ready to place a SU! order and I can not make up my mind wether to make the plunge and buy the watercolor crayons. I have heard that using the top of my ink lids and a aqua painter works just as well. What do you gals think?
I do both.. I purchased the pads for that reason..I am also learning to blend colors to get what I want.. Like I just used the pumkin pie pad and a redbrown water crayon to get sort of a terra cotta color for pots... I have also used the Close to Coco pad for my house mouse stamps... I am still new to this so it is still trial and error for me...I purchased water color crayons from ACM's using a 40% off coupon. HTH
I *love* my crayons! They make me feel like an artist (which I totally am not!). I watercolor with the re-inkers, too, but the WWC are a different look.
Yes, definitely get them. They are a good investment. I bought mine a year and half ago and use them all the time but they look like they've hardly been used at all.

I love my crayons too...and think they were one of the best investments I've made. Despite near daily use..they still look as good as when I bought them.
I don't stamp nearly as often as I "should", so I can't say I use mine all the time, but I really do enjoy them when I do stamp. I used to use only the lids, but for some reason the WCC are more FUN!

I have them, don't use them as often as I wish I did. I tend to use the ink in the lid and an aqua painter more often. I have moved my crayons to a more accesible area, so maybe I will use them more?

What about getting just the neutrals to experiment with. It seems as if there isn't such a variety of nuetral colors in the pads and the cost is low for the neutral colors. Kinda like a test drive.

I am so glad I saw this thread, because today I have been contemplating the prismacolors to use with gamsol, so which would better, and more importantly, easier for an amateur?? I think I am now leaning towards the watercolor crayons...help!
