Default Black embossing powder

Is SU your favourite brand for black embossing powder, or are there other brands your prefer? Just wondering, as I am need of a new jar of black embossing powder and I have only used SU's before. Any thoughts?

I use embossing powder that I bought at Micheal's. It is Stampendous Stampin Stuff, it is 1/2 oz size container, in fact I have several different colors of embossing powder that I have bought at Micheal's. I have had no problems with it and I use it alot.

I recently bought some new black embossing powder made by American Crafts called Zing. It's cool stuff - I got a solid black, as well as a black glitter. I've purchased other glitter embossing powders before (from Michael's) and didn't like the results AT ALL. But this new Zing embossing powder was really blingy!! I bought it from www.addictedtorubberstamps.com, but I've also seen it on the Stamping Bella website. Hope this helps!

Ditto! I can't remember the last time I used anything other than clear EP whether with black ink or some other color. For me it's easier to choose an ink color and let it show thru the clear EP than to try to match an EP color. Also, no "stray" EP spots anywhere (at least that you can see )
TIP (ala Michelle Zindorf): If you don't have a pigment ink in the color you want to emboss, load your stamp first with clear Versamark/embossing ink and then load with your choice of ink. Stamp your image and apply clear EP. Heat with heat gun!

Sometimes you just want a strong black. I'm not sure who makes the stuff, but I love the detail black that I have. It's very fine and less likely to clump up and stray. Hope you can find what you're looking for.

Another vote for the detail powder here - my current pot is Stampendous and the quality seems just fine!

I just got a few of the Zing! powders and I LOVE them! No need for a stamping buddy or anything. I have those TH ones and they just positively stick on everything despite all the anti-static thingies I've tried. I have half a mind to chuck the lot out and replace them with Zing!.

You can't beat black ink/black powder for a great look. I use SU! black craft ink and SU! black embossing powder. It's very fine so it's great for details like sentiments. When using any black powder, especially detail/fine ones, use an anti-static pad first.

I heard a long time ago (and don't know that it is true but the information seemed credible at the time) that in the US there are only 2 manufacturers of embossing powder. The different craft companies market it, but I wouldn't get too bogged down in what company produces the best.

And although I agree - black ink and black embossing powder is great - I always used colored ink under embossing powder that is the color that I want. If the embossing powder misses a teeny spot it won't be so noticeable.

I will only use the Ranger brand of embossing powders be it the regular or Fine Detail. I am not a fan of Stampin' Up products nor the brand sold in Michaels.
