Default Big Shot Express

Hi,

I just bought a used Big Shot Express and I was wondering if I could get some feedback from those of you who own one. I'm pretty new to the die-cutting world so I'm not sure if this is a good machine or not. All I hear about on the forums is about the regular Big Shot so I'm hoping I didn't make a mistake getting the Express. I turned it on just to test it out and it sounds like a blender. Is it supposed to be that loud? Also, it didn't come with any plates, so I was wondering what I need to buy to get started.

Thanks for any help!!
Linda

I have read several negative comments about the Express but I saw it at a demo and liked the ease of use. I struggled with having something electric that could break down but I bit the bullet and bought the Express. I have had it for over a year and use it ALOT and so far no problems at all. I did get a sandwich wedged one time but got it figured out and has never happened again. If I were doing it again, I would still buy this one. Yes, it is kind of loud but things go through it so fast and effortless. I love, love, love it. You will need the sandwich plates though. I will check mine out in the morning and let you know which ones I have. I bought extra clear cutting mats in case I broke one in the middle of a projects but so far I am still on the originals. I use every single one of my dies, and embossing folders, metal stencils and texture plates in it. Hope this helps. You can pm me if you have more questions. It doesn't seem like many gals on here use the express. I have pretty much felt like the lone ranger but that's ok. It works for me.

I have had mine for about a year and LOVE it! No cranking the handle for me! I'm the "push a button" kind of gal!

I have both machines. I use the Express for personal project and the Stampin Up Big Shot for classes and workshops. I love my Express and bought that first.

Thank you for replying! I do have one more question: Do I use the same "sandwich" formulas for the Express that is recommended for the regular Big Shot? Thank you again!

The multi-purpose platform you use with the Big Shot. With the Express you have an individual platform. It is basically the same. The platforms list what you need to use with what products.

My friend and I both bought the Express last year, loved it til the motor crapped out. So because it was under warranty, Sizzix replaced it with the Vagabon as they are no longer making the Express as they had problems with them!
I would pay the extra and get the Vagabond, it is quiet and I haven't found anything that it won't cut! Plus it folds for great storage.
Hope this helps.
