I have the Cuttlebug but going to order the Big Shot. Some of the diecuts from SU do not fit in the CB so getting the Big Shot. But no doubt will use both of them.
I have a Big Shot, I love the weight of it and all the dies fit except the "grand" dies from Spellbinder which I don't have anyway. I like how I don't have to keep up with any cutting sandwiches, they are all hooked together.
I have the Big Kick, which is basically the Big Shot's fraternal twin. (The inner workings are the same, but the casing is different.) I chose it because the Cuttlebug didn't seem sturdy to me.
I have a Cuttlebug and have never regretted buying it. I chose that because of the cost. It was $50 a couple of years ago. Not sure what it is now. My Stampin' Up demo has a Big Shot and the Cuttlebug can do everything that the Big Shot can do as far as I can see.
I have a Cuttlebug and love it. I haven't found a die that I haven't been able to use it. Even the XL Sizzix dies will work. You just need to buy the 12 inch long cuttlebug plates. I love that it is compact and the large suction cup at the bottom gives it great stability.
I have the BIGkick (same difference as the Big Shot, just different look). I feel it's a more versitile machine than the Cuttlebug. It's also sturdier. I feel you can get it cheaper in a store with a coupon rather than over the internet.
Had a cuttlebug and loved it!!! Sold it to get the Big Shot and have never regretted it! The Big Shot can do everything the cuttlebug can do and more! But the cuttlebug can not do everything the Big Shot can do! I would stick with the Big Shot!
I have both but some dies are too big to fit into Cuttlebug. If you are going to do alot of diecutting I suggest you get an electric one. The winding is a stress to the hands and sad to say it contributed to my hand injury along with other factors. You will never know until the injury surface that you have this kind of problem.
I have both a CB and a BS. I use my BS for everything. It is much sturdier and for me it seems like it is easier to use. Sometimes when I make cards for a swap I make lots of die cuts and it's great to be able to run more than one sheet of paper through at a time.
Also like others have said it seems more versatile. I am able to use dies of all sizes and it cuts lots of different types of materials. I made 300 fabric butterflies for a card swap I did at convention and I had no problems at all with the BS.

I have a cuttlebug and LOVE it. I got it for Christmas from my kids. They found it @ M's for half price. About $35.00 about two years ago. What a deal. I love my bug. I could not have afforded a full-price machine at that time and they don't go on sale often. So it was the bast present ever.
If and when it breaks (and I have read that they can break) I'll buy a big shot. I feel the BS is built to withstand a heavier workload.

I had the original Sizzix and a Sidekick. The Sidekick drove me insane because the suction cup had to be repositioned EVERY TIME I ran the cutting pads through. No way was I buying a Cuttlebug that seemed to operate the same way. Besides, with the Big Shot, no worries about if the dies fit. If I didn't have that, I would consider the Vagabond.
I've had my Cuttlebug for several years and I love it. I also only paid about $35 for it. I use Sizzix Bigz XL dies in it with the XL long cutting pads, with no problems. I am considering buying the Big Shot Pro so that I can use 12x12 dies in it, but I don't think it will replace my beloved Bug for embossing.
I voted for the CB simply because I have one and love it. The most attractive feature for me is it's ease of portability. It's small and compact and packs very nicely for travel.
However, if this is your fist die cut machine purchase, I'd recommend going with the Grand Calibur. There will come a time when you want to be able to buy and use the oversized dies as well as the traditional size dies, and the Calibur is the only one that does that today. (at least as far as I know). It's a bit pricier, but a worthwhile investment in my view.

I have a cuttlebug and love it.. My friend has a big shot that I have used, nice but I can do anything with my cuttlebug. What I am thinking on getting is the spellbinders machine made for the large spellbinders. I also wish that cuttlebug would create a machine with a wider opening.

I have both and use both (love both). But if I had to get rid of one, I'd get rid of the CB and keep the Big Shot based on how I tend to create. I'm not always working at a desk or counter. A lot of times I'm sitting in the middle of the rug with stuff spread out around me. The Big Shot can easily be used in that type of situation. The CB needs a smooth, solid surface to "grip" onto. I have small portable sturdy board I can use for the CB in that instance, but it just means one more thing I need to remember to grab. The Big Shot also is more solid feeling to use for me. If I only have a few things to do and will be working at a regular work area, I'll grab the CB because it's smaller and easier to deal with, but for those unusual work areas and big jobs, I always grab the Big Shot.
I have a Big Kick. Got a good deal at Joann's couple months ago. Still learning all the possibilities. Haven't tried the Spellbinders, are they easy to use with the Big Kick or do I need to buy extra part to make them work?
Very easy to use the Big Shot with Spellbinders. I have found that for me they work better if they are placed on a magnetic sheet so they won't move on the plastic plate. I had a sheet of adhesive backed magnet that I put on an acrylic cutting plate. It works great.
I have the Big Shot regular and Big Shot Express. I mass produce table favors, cards and lots of other things using the XL dies for my craft day at church and the Big Shot Express is great for that and everything. I'm just afraid that I will someday burn out the motor and will need to go back to the regular big Shot which is great. By the way -- it's good for arm flab.
I also own Sizzix's side Kick and Texture Boutique. I only use when I'm on the road because the Big Shot does it all. I use the Big Shot for my quickutz, provocraft dies and Spellbinders. I don't mind the curvature of the acrylic matts because Sizzix matts are fairly inexpensive. Regular price at Michaels is $9 and they frequently have the 40% sales.
If you find yourself getting the Cuttlebug let me know.
I have a Big Shot, which I got for half price several years ago. I like the stability. My mom has the CB, which I have used, but it tends to "walk" while being used. The Big Shot stays where I put it. Also, her CB pads curl over time, and so need to be replaced more frequently. My Big Shot pads have never curled. I do use one set for cutting and a different set for embossing. And I do flip them over and use them from different directions.
I had the Cuttlebug for about 2 years and loved it--except having to re-suction it on every other pass. When I became a SU demo, I bought their Big Shot. The Big Shot is much more sturdy than the Cuttlebug. If you will use the machine a lot, the Big Shot is the way to go.

I have a Cuttlebug and I do love it....but I wish I had a Big Shot. I think I would prefer it because of the larger dies. I believe it will cut through more materials, too.
The Big Shot cuts better for me, but the major reason I like it is its ability to cut through multiple pieces of cardstock (3-4 depending on the thickness of the paper). This is great when I am making more than one card. The pressure does a great job cutting through.
The CB is great for Nesties just because it is more portable.
Just out of curiosity, I haven't heard much about the Sizzix Sidekick lately. The last few thin diecuts I bought wouldn't cut completely through using it. Need a new one?? It seems there isn't enough pressure.
never liked my sidekick....Love my cuttlebug! Don't have a big shot but would consider it at some point for the larger dies...this thread is really convincing me to try out the BS
Love my CB!! I chose it for the price (much less expensive than the BigShot) and for the smaller size. I keep it and my dies and embossing folders all in one drawer. :-) I tend to use it more with embossing folders, but I've also used Sizzlit dies perfectly with it, too. Good luck with your decision!

Me too. It does all I need it to do. I even made 200 pillow boxes using the die that just fits. I thought if anything caused it stress it would be all that. but it held up just fine!

What a great idea!! Thank you. I have extra plates that I buy when I have 50% off coupons at ACMoore or Michaels and I have just replaced my old plates as I go, but I think using one set for embossing and one for cutting is a fabulous idea!
I voted for my trusty little Cuttlebug! I've had it for a few years, since they first came on the market, and I've never found a need to upgrade to something else.
It does everything I want it to do for making cards. I use lots of Nestabilities, the CB embossing folders, and several of the Sizzix BigZ dies with no problems whatsoever. My current favorite is the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals. Love those flowers!
I keep my stamping stuff in a spare bedroom and bring things out to a table in my living room when I stamp. The small size of the CB makes it easy to take back and forth.

Actually right now you can find them for $10 or less in price difference. So price isn't really a factor like it use to be.

I have: A cuttlebug (my second one, first one died earlier this year) Big Shot, Grand Caliber and a Slice Elite. Love them all but the unit I reach for most often is the Cuttlebug.
