Default Best price online for a Silhouette?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me the lowest price they have seen for the Silhouette, besides Ebay and QVC? I am really wanting to order one of these this week (before DH changes his mind, LOL).

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what exactly it is! Maybe it's something I "need" too!

Hi, Coletta,
The Silhouette is a digital cutting machine that will cut any true type font from your computer, as well as dingbats. You can see more about it here:
http://www.quickutz.com/qk2/silhouette/
I didn't get any responses, so I just went ahead and bought one from here:
http://www.scrapbuggy.com/store/inde...e43069211c443e
It was $299 with free shipping and I ordered it this morning around 10:00 and it has already shipped.

That QVC machine had a $40. credit use toward further purchases online for the machine, which is a great offering; I almost considered it, it had 5 easy payments and was $349. but ignored temption to buy another piece of cutting system, but gosh it looks like fun

I too struggled with the temptation of purchasing it from QVC...I wanted it so bad I could already imagine where I was gonna put it on my desk...the thougth of easy pay was really enticing, but I was strong...I'm trying to revamp my craft room (again), but this time with real cabinets and countertops instead of another unmatching storage unit...so I decided I'd put the extra $$ toward that - and snag that silhouette once I get the room all done!! I'm anxious to hear what you think of yours once you get it and get it all figured out!! Please post an update!!!

Just another shout out for Scrap Buggy! I have ordered from her more than once, so has MIL. She always ships the same day and I have never had any troubles. She rocks! Every other online discount QK dealer I have dealt with is either slow or inept, and I just love Scrap Buggy.

does anyone know what the advantages of a silhouette over a 24 inch ciricut are?

Cricut and Silhouette are very different.

Silhouette is the same machine as CraftRobo or Wishblade. It comes with QK specific software. With the Silhouette, you can cut any True Type Font or GSD file on your computer. There are hundreds of these designs on the internet for free. You can download Quickutz designs or use QK Digital Design Portfolios (those cost money). You never need to buy cartridges, and the cutting mat and blade seem to last longer than Cricut. The Silhouette, however, must be attached to a computer. There is a very liberal angel policy with QK designs. Maximum cut on the Silhouette is 8".

Cricut is a stand-alone machine. It does not need a computer attached to work, although you can buy a computer program that lets you manipulate Cricut images on your computer. You must use Cricut cartridges with the Cricut, these can cost anywhere from $25-$90 a piece, depending on sales, specials, and prices where you live. Cricut's angel policy is limited, technically you are not supposed to sell anything you make with their images for profit or online (this is my understanding). Cricut has a Disney contract and they have a wide variety of Disney designs, if you are a Disney fan, that's awesome. Most consider it easier to use than the Silhouette - no new software to learn. Max cut on the expression is 24" - it's huge and takes up more desk space than the Silhouette.

Both machines can cut the same materials - vinyl, cardstock, etc. Two of my good friends got machines for Christmas, one a CraftRobo and one a Cricut. The girl with the craftrobo reviews electronics for magazines for a living, and she said the Craftrobo (same machine as QK, different software) has a steep learning curve and took her hours to figure out. The girl with the Cricut was able to turn it on and cut from the get-go. However, the girl with the CraftRobo has a lot more options, most free, for her die cuts and is very happy now that she has learned to use it.

So, if you want to cut very, very large images or have problems with technology or no time to learn a new machine, you might want to get a Cricut. If you want flexibility in your images and the ability to cut thousands of fonts and designs without paying for more items, or if you want to cut QK designs, and you have time to learn the machine, then go with the Silhouette.

Glad I saw this! I had seen the Cricut at Sam's and was thinking about getting it, but I rather want the Nestabilities right now, too! (Rats!) Hadn't heard of this before, so this is food for thought!

I just received my silhouette from Scrapbuggy. I had placed an order from CutatHome on February 24th and paid for priority shipping. When I had not received it by February 29th, I called to see what was up, and they had not even received them yet. She was hoping to ship it out by Monday, March
3rd. I had found the Scrapbuggy site after I placed my order with CutatHome and noticed she offered free shipping, so I canceled my order with CutatHome and placed an order with Scrapbuggy on Friday afternoon. She shipped it about 30 minutes after I placed my order, and I had it by Tuesday morning. That was AWESOME service IMO!

I know some one with the Silhouette and she said set up time was under 15 minutes. Very easy. And if you are looking in Canada, Scrapbooks By Design has them on sale for $299 and free shipping.

I have the silhouette and my friend has the cricut, a friendship made in heaven! If you get the silhouette, join the yahoo groups, wishblade and easywishblade, those girls are amazing designers and I have a huge library of images that they have made and shared! I can also trace from jpeg images to create a cutting file! I got mine from my local scrapbook store to which I belong to the Quickutz club and got 20% off. There is another machine out there called the Gazelle which does do 12" and cuts all ttfs of your computer. I'm not sure who the maker is but it also cuts chipboard.

I got mine from Scrapbook Express. She had a deal earlier this year for a free program and the machine for $299. That was with free shipping. Can't beat that deal. I like mine alot! Scrapbuggy has deals on the programs because I got a few of my others from her as well. Both offer great service.

Just ordered mine from Scrapbooksbydesign.com for $299, free shipping. I am an autocad drafter by profession and have tons of 3D templates already created. Hopefully I can cut them out with this little machine. Can't wait to play around with my new toy!

I'm so wanting one of these - but was looking at the Wishblade also. Are they the same machine just different companies/software? Anyone have a good site that compares the two (and the others)?
