ATG Tape - Regular vs. Acid-Free - who has tried both?

I remember reading a long time ago that while both are effective, if don't get acid-free unless you scrapbook. I forget the reason. Maybe one went on smoother or was stickier??? I'm not sure, but I was wondering if anyone has had experience with both and can recommend one over the other. Thanks! Debbie

I've tried both and I like both. The non-acid free does seem a bit stickier, but the acid-free seemed to be smoother. All in all, though, they both hold VERY well. Because I don't scrap, so I choose to use the non-acid free...less expensive.

I use the regular one all the time. The AF one is much more stinky and since I don't really scrap I don't need it.

I've been using ATG for about 8 years and have never had any issues with stickiness.

The regular non AF one is perfect for cards, and I love the AF one for scrapbooking. I have 2 atg's so I don't have to worry about switching between the two. Saved a fortune (and my sanity too) that way

I agree with 1chrystal. I also have 2 ATGs so use the one with the non-AF tape for cards and the one with the AF tape for scrapbooking.

Also, when I bought my 714 from Armel, they had 3M 987 1/4" tape that had 60 yds on it. It is non-AF but of course, went a long way. Things stayed when they were adhered. I don't know if they still carry that length. I bought a ATG 50 when 3M was having all the problems with the 714 and it will only hold the 36 yds spools.

I've used both and never noticed any difference between them. I prefer the regular as it is cheaper!!
