Default Another Question about SU! Classic Ink

Hi all! Hope everyone is enjoying their 2010 so far!!

I have read in numerous places that SU! Classic Ink will fade over time; however, I've never seen a definition of what "over time" is. Does anyone have more details on how long it takes for the classic/dye ink to fade?

I ask because I am going to be using SU!'s classic ink on some things (favors, centerpieces, etc.) for my wedding in March 2011, and would like to get started now, but would be *extremely* upset if they were faded when it comes time to display them at my wedding!! I understand things like light/direct sunlight will speed up the fading process, so I would store things in some sort of box/container that is not clear.

Thank you in advance!!!

Hi Kim

I always use SU classic inks (and have for over 2 years) and I have never had them fade. If they do, I'm sure it would be because of prolonged sun exposure for abnormal amounts of time. I *think* that you would be fine, but that said...I haven't been one of the people to have any problems ;)

I have had cardstock fade that I left out in direct sunlight so I think if you are putting things away that will be good. I might say that the Soft Subtles would have the greatest chance of fading a little since they are so light to begin with. Otherwise, I can't say I have noticed fading on my projects.

Kim,

I think the "fade over time" is more a reference to scrapbooking where someone might want to create scrapbooks to hand down to their children and want to last for a long time. I have been using SU inks for 7 years now. Most of the items I have made over the last 7 years are still in great condition. I have had some fading on papers/inks that were left in direct sunlight, but nothing otherwise.

Thank you all for your quick responses and insight! I'm not using any colors from the Soft Subtles family, so it sounds like I'll be just fine getting a head start now!
