I have found that my S.U. paper will curl a little sometimes. I find it works well if you heat from the top moving the gun in circles then from the bottom if you get curling.
If there's any curl left to your paper (after the embossing has set) you can smooth with your fingers: gently--so as not to crease it--curve the paper in the opposite direction of the curl (like when you were a kid and rolled your pictures for Mom then had to roll them the other way to get them flat). It sounds like work, but it's a quick fix. Another option is to set it under a heavy book for a tiny bit to get the curve out. Happy embossing,
