Question Vellum Quotes Help!

Hi all experienced card/paper crafters out there. This newbie really needs some help. I found a book of quotes printed on vellum paper in a clearance bin (where I would live if the law would allow it) so I snatched them up. I brought my new purchase home so happy to have this to add to my supply box only to discover I have no idea how to use it. Sooo I will sheepishly confess I thought maybe they were rub ons and tried that...nope. Then I thought maybe they were iron on transfers. While setting up the ironing board I had the brilliant notion of asking the experts here before doing something that could lead to a nasty mess.

So, how do I use this great product?
There are several quotes printed on one page so is it okay to cut them out?
Is there a certain technique to use?

Any and all advice on this would so greatly be appreciated.

Blessings,

Sarah

The ones I've used were several to a sheet and I just cut them apart.

I've put some in slide holders. I've also used them on tags and pages.

You can mat them on cardstock or designer paper too.

Hope this helps ya out some!!

Since it is hard to use adhesive on vellum because it shows through....I have cut them out, laid them on a cardstock mat, and then attached the whole thing with brads through the vellum part.

I was wondering how it attached to cards. I guess I'll just have to play with it and see what I can do.

I found some of the Tombow adhesive runner specially made for Vellum...the only other alternative I would try would be a very thin layer of tacky glue or modge podge applied with a foam brush. I bought some of those vellum quotes also to make some bookmarks with and the vellum adhesive works very well with it and it doesn't show through. Hope this helps. I found this at JoAnn's and AC Moore's.

I have heard of the tombow adhesive as well but haven't tried it yet, I really like the vellum sayings too, but mostly attach them with brads and eylets...have fun trying, you'll find your way!! Thanks Zbear1 for the reminder on the tombow, I need to pick some up!

Crystal Effects or the Tim Holtz clear liquid adhesive (can't think of the name off the top of my head) dries clear on vellum.

Use your Xyron machines to apply glue to the back of the quote or use vellum adhesive which doesn't show much.

Creative Memories also makes Frosted Splits - they are the square adhesives, and are designed specially for adhering vellum. One trick, try to put your adhesive if possible right around where the words or pictures are - they will help in hiding the adhesive a bit.

I have heard that a lot of people have success with the Xyron - I don't have one so I cannot vouch personally.

If there is white space on the edges/corners of your vellum quote, you could try putting an embellishment over top to cover the adhesive - I do that quite frequently - chipboard photo corners or brackets work well.

HTH!

I imagine that this works because you would have the adhesive covering the entire piece of vellum so that even if the adhesive showed through, the color of the vellum would be even.
I have been using a Scotch product called vellum tape with good success. You cut a small piece, stick it to the back of your vellum, rub as if with a rub-on then remove the backing paper and stick the vellum to your paper....it doesn't show up at all and holds really well.
I've torn and cut the vellum quotes. Either method works just gives a different look. If even sponged the edges of the torn vellum on vintage pieces as I did here on this collage
