i have customers who want to learn different techniques using pastels. i only know the poppin pastels technique . any other techniques?? tia Linda

You can color on ribbon with the pastels. They can be used to marble papers. There are quite a few more that I can't seem to think of right now. The best way to find a variety of things to do with pastels would be to use the search feature and look through threads to see what you come up with. The search button is between new posts and quick links. All you have to do is click on it and type in pastels and it should come up with plenty of results. You might also want to try the search word chalk. hth

Pulling Pastels - Use a dark piece of cardstock and apply chalk all over. Ink your image with versamark and stamp on your chalky cardstock. The versamark will lift the chalk off the cardstock.

Chalkboard technique - Stamp your image with white craft ink on dark cardstock and add chalk over it.

Pastel embossing - Emboss your image in white on dark cardstock and apply chalk over it.

You can also use them with a blender pen to color in an image. I used to do this all the time before the crayons came along.

And don't forget 2-step poppin' pastels. Make a template with a punch...like, punch four squares out of a piece of cardstock (2 rows, 2 columns). Put that template on your project and color in each square with pastels. Then, take a stamp and ink it in versamark and stamp on top of the squares you colored. Then color the squares again...this time, the pastels will stick to your versamark image, so the image will appear darker than the colored box it's in.

Does that make sense at all? Unfortunately, I don't have a sample, but I just learned it at my upline's meeting last month and I'm pretty sure that's how I remember it....
