Default silly scrapbook question

hi ladies!

i hope everyone had a great holiday! im not much of a scrapbooker, but i have a stamp camp scheduled for february and the people attending are mainly scrapbookers. so i want to introduce them to the 6x6 concept. what size do you make the mats for the photos? i know that everyone uses diffrent size photos but i just need a standard size? of course no one will have thier photos with them so we will just put the mats on the page and they can add thier pictures later.

thanks for answering my kindergarten question!

Loretta

Is it a 6 x 6 scrapbook stamp camp only or are you going to be stamping other items?

I am a scrapbooker...

This is sort of a tough question, but I think that even though its a 6 x 6 album and it sounds like (so iam assuming) they will take this and add their photos later? I would cut the mats down to about 4.5x 5.5, this will give them room if they have to cut off more, but a little extra room to crop photos, they can take this home and cut it down to mat the photos to whatever size they need.

Now, what you could do, Is provide them with a sketch of the layout you have planned so that when they get it home they can look at the sketch and see how it is suppose to look... Does that make sense?

You can pm me if you have any other questions. I'd love to help

I am starting to add a scrapbooking demo in my workshops. I demo a 6x6 page and then give it to the hostess. If they are not scrapbookers they could also send the 6x6 page as a card (great card for grandma with picture of grandkids on it). Anyway I then take the 6x6 card and show them how to incorporate the 6x6 page into a 8-1/2x 11 and then the 8-1/2x11 into a 12x12 page. The 81/2x11 & the 12x12 I already have made up, including picture and embellishements.

When I show 6 x 6 pages, I assume pictures will be 3 1/2 x 5 or smaller and plan the mats according to that. Anything bigger overwhelms the page - my humble opinion.

I usually stick with 4x5 or smaller. They will have to crop their photo some but that usually happens regardless. I always find myself wanting more room to stamp!!

Starndard photo sizes are 4x6 and 3 1/2x5. Well, a 4x6 won't work on a 6x6 page, so I always assume 3 1/2 x 5 and cut my mats to be 3.75x5.25. That way the "standard" size photos can fit easily, and if they have larger 4x6 photos, cropping should be minimal. Plus, it keeps it consistent so they'll know what size to crop the photos to.
