I don't know if this will help but "Creative Memries" has a great sutter system that are great for this and they are in several sizes and shapes as well. Hugs Barb

Okay, quick question, do you punch it out with the SU square punch? What size? I have the creative memories one but not the SU one -- is it easier to line up so that you have a nice even frame? Can you get the paper in there very far?
I use the cutter. There's an arrow and a indentation on the orange handle. I cut a 1" border and am able to line up previous cuts with the arrow and indentation, 99% of the time it turns out. If the cuts aren't complete I use an exacto blade to finish it.
My frames don't come out that straight when I cut them out so I learned to just accept it and I use my X-cto knife and make wavy lines around the box. Here's one that I did it to...
I use the Fislars shapecutting system. You get all sorts of shapes eg stars, hearts, squares and circles in different sizes from very small to very large. It works really well.
I use two sizes of square punches; punching out the smallest first (personally I think lining up the larger over the smaller is simpler. For me, this process works well.

I use my square punch - then I trim the outside edges using my small CM trimmer. I find if I line up the inside edge of the punched square to the edge of the silver/gray strip on the CM trimmer and trim I get a nice square frame. I have some shaker cards in my gallery that show the square frames.
I also use my CM cutting system for circles and ovals.
