Question Rub-ons on mug

I just made a mug gift set using SU rub-ons. Does anyone have any advice on how to care for/clean mug after using it? For example, If I give it as a gift, I want to assure the recipient that you can handwash it without the rub-ons peeling off, etc. I'm also guessing the mug should not be used in the microwave? (Would the heat melt the rub-ons?!) Anyone have any experience or advice?

i don't have any experience using rub ons. but i would think you would want to seal it with polyeurothane or some other similar sealant. i hope that that's something that's safe to use on foodware. just to be safe i would only spray on the outside of the cup. also, i'm not sure how well it would hold up to microwaving or handwashing. maybe google it to find out exactly how durable poly is. maybe you can find another sealant that way.

I was wondering the same thing but wasn't brave enough to try it! I saw it in the SAB catalog but assumed they were just for presentation and would wash/wear off in a short time. Hopefully someone will chime in with the perfect solution because they are very cute!

Default Ceramics?

Maybe try asking at a ceramics' workshop. Or at Micheals in the the ceramics section. They MUST have something out there for all those coffee mugs that are being hand made??!!
