Question Question about burning stamped on candles

Hi all,
I just made my first candle using the tissue/wax paper technique. I was really nervous that I would mess it up.. but-- WOW! it is SOO pretty

I am going to making these for Christmas gifts this year, how does these burn with the tissue paper embedded in the wax? Should I include any special instructions with them? I don't think that I could ever burn one myself.. too pretty, but I want the people that get them to be able to burn them if they want.

I am SOO excited about these! Much easier than I thought and how neat to trun a blah white candle into something so beautiful

thanks for sharing this technique and for any ideas about burning them

IN HIM, Dawn

Im so happy this worked for you. Could you share what steps you took to get

Unless you stamped on a votive, most pillars burn down the middle, and since your images are just below the outside surface, burning them should be fine. I always do a test though to make sure they do burn that way. Actually, burning them makes the images glow...very nice effect. You could just add a note that burning candles should not be left unattended.

Wink Candle Burning for Pillars

I did my first 50 candles in February as favors for my 40th Birthday. I only stamp on pillars since they burn inwardly. So far everyone has asked me if I had extras they loved them sooooo much. I buy mine at AC moore. Gardenia, Vanilla and Strawberry. Basically white pink, and cream. They are the easiest to appreciate the artworkwhen stamping on the white tissue paper.

Do not stamp on VOTIVES!!! They burn and are dangerous with the tissue paper. I would stamp on the glass votive holders instead.

Have fun!!!

I just did my first candle and love it! I have read so many different views on if you can burn the candles or not. I am using a small pillar candle from Michaels (on sale: $1 until Sat!!!) and the tissue paper technique. Since it is just tissue paper I don't see the harm in burning it. If the paper gets caught on fire it will just burn. My questions is about the ink....is this highly flammable?? or can it be burned? Would it be better to use wax paper instead of tissue paper?

I made a bunch of stamped pillar candles for my in-laws anniversary party decorations ~ they burned for over 3-4 hours and were completely fine ~ just like the other posts said they burn inwardly. Since you are giving them as a gift it may be a good idea to do a little note about not leaving them unattended!!

You can also cut out a circle that is deep enough & big around enough to sit a tealight candle in. That way they could keep the candle indefinitely and just change out the tealights as needed.

I recommend that you NOT use Partylite Candles (AKA Colonial Candles of Cape Cod) as these do burn completely away.
