You could always make your own fun flock by grating the styrofoam balls over a bowl and adding a bit of dye to them. Here's a tutorial stating rubbing two cut styrofoam balls together and using re-inkers to color the flock: How to Make Your Own Flower Flocking - Rubber Art Stamping
well i gathered my pins , balls and had to buy some 12x12 (long storey i have soo much paper and craft stuff but its all with my sister) and sat and played last night ...i will try to put some pictures up but tried 2 types of paper fold , both have worked so i am happy xx stand by later today i will try to post pictures but i am technically challenged lol

Have you tried them using different shades of the same color on the same ball (Ombr)? That would be gorgeous! Or how about making spirals using two or four colors (it would definately take some thinking and planning!) on a third color background (like red and green on white, or yellow and lavendar on pink, etc.)?
Everyone on here is so utterly awesome with all the info. Love these links-so, thanks from me, too!

Here is a link to the ball ornament. It seems that is can also be called 'pineapple' style. This is with fabric but they mentioned that other materials can be used.
