Default ??Packing tape glitter window??

OK, is there an easier way to do this than getting glitter all over the place?
Also, do you stamp an image on the sticky part first, then put the glitter over it...is your glitter-y side facing out or in....I'm trying to make window cards using this technique....I guess I could always just use Crystal Effects & glitter, but that would be too easy....LOL

Thanks in advance!!!

What fun is it if you don't get glitter everywhere???

I haven't made one of these cards so I don't know if the glitter faces in or out. I would think if it faces in, less glitter would rub off the card. Which way looks better?

We just did this at our last meeting. We stamped the image on cardstock. Then we attached the tape so the sticky side of the tape faced outside (the front of the card) and we poured the glitter onto sticky portion of the tape (the glitter is on the outside). Finally we adhered the stamped piece of carstock to our card front so the image showed through the window.

Hope this helps - it's much easier than it sounds!

I've done these both ways - with the glitter facing in and with it on the outside. Either way, not much glitter comes off. It's stuck on the tape. I like the look of the glitter on the outside better.

I've always stamped and colored the image on a bottom layer of cardstock and the glitter/packing tape part is layered on top. These really are easy, and way less mess than crystal effects and glitter.

One tip on not getting the glitter everywhere - I put my Dazzling Diamonds (and commonly used embossing powders) in small rubbermaid/ziploc/gladware sandwich-sized containers with lids. Then after you get the tape onto your card, just tip it onto the container. You can easily shake off the excess and you don't need to put the glitter/powder back into that small container!!

I do this with my Clear embossing powder too - I find I emboss more if I don't have to mess with the powder pal and getting the EP back into those little bottles!

I have been wanting to do this with mine also. I have alot of friends that use my stuff & they aren't as "graceful" in putting it back in the little bottles....LOL One of my concerns was, when you open up the lid of the Z*ploc containers, does the embossing powder/glitter "jump". You know how hard they can be to open sometimes...LOL

Thanks for all your help ladies!!

Can you belive I don't have StazOn??? :::gasp:::
I keep fretting whether I should get some or not....maybe I should just bite the bullet....LOL!

I did just do some playing. If you stamp on the sticky side of the tape with regular ink, then put the glitter over that, it looks pretty good...I need to buy finer glitter though.

Here's an idea : when using glitter, or embossing powders - put a clean coffee filter ( you know, those white ones that you use in the electric 'drip' style coffee makers) underneath your project. When you are tapping the excess glitter/powder off the cardstock, put it on the filter. It is easy to manipulate the filter to pour into the little containers, and the powders don't seem to stick to the material the filter is made of!! Good luck, and I hope this helps.

I use my Zyron 510 with one sided adhesive, it is the right width for cards. Put window sheet piece through that has been precut to size needed. Use Oval Colluzle to cut card front, use to position stamp on white card then color stamped image, I use markers or chalk. Put window sheet on back of oval cut with sticky side facing out adhere to card with mono then sprinke with Dazzling Diamonds. I usually stamp a small image and emboss on the card front before I adhere the window sheet.

I am attaching a card I did for a swap last year. I also used the same technique for a 6 x 6 swap in August. I will try to download that to the gallary.

I am sorry but I couldn't add an attachment. I upgraded my MSN last night and I am ready to downgrade. It is slower and confusing. I guess I will hang in a few days. I will try the downloading to gallary. Bear with lakegrandma.

I uploaded the card to Lovely As A Tree and the 6x6 in the Scrapbooking gallary. I said I used a 510 Zyron, it is a 500.
