Default Mounting tape - help!

Can anyone tell me the best places to buy mounting tape? Can you get it at, say, the grocery store or do you have to go to a craft store? I want to try the shaker cards (I just got some window sheets) and I don't think I'm going to have time to go to the craft store AND make the card. I really wanted to make one for Father's Day, but I have to have it done today. Any help is appreciated!

You can get mounting tape at Target, Wal-mart and hardware store. Not sure if they would have it at the grocery store, they might

Good luck.

Default Well

I don't know if I can say this here, but WalMart is where I buy all my mounting tape. If by mounting tape you mean the double sided tape with foam in the center. Grocery stores may carry it, but it will be a good couple of dollars higher than Walmart or Target.

You should be able to get it at Wal-mart, Target - you might need to look in the hardware section with mounting brackets and such - also places like Office max and Staples will carry them too...

One word of advice - I have used both Duck brand and Scotch brand - I will always pay the extra $$$ and get Scotch brand - it cuts and sticks so much better than Duck brand...

I was getting my mounting tape from Target and WalMart. But, I was so addicted to shaker cards that it can start adding up..... So, as suggested in a previous thread, you can try is the extra rubber from your stamps that you cut up! That's what I've been using for some of my shaker cards. I have BAGS and BAGS of them in my stamp room.... might as well use them!

Default You know

for a brand that's been around forever ~ Duck ~ they sure don't make good lasting quality tape. I go for the 3M for all my taping needs. Their double sided sticky tape is better than monoadhesive anyday.

My favorite place to get foam mounting tape or squares is my local dollar store. They usually have 2 or 3 choices (most times even have 3M products) - I've found it there in the tool section, the craft section and the office supply part of the store. Even their "off" brands seem to stick really well and for only a dollar you can afford to buy several to have on hand.
Good luck finding what you like!

Default mounting tape

I found rolls of mounting tape at Hobby Lobby - if you have one of those close by - for 99 cents each.

Default Mounting tape

Why buy mounting tape when you can use the rubber you cut off to mount your stamps. I cut mine into strips as close to the stamping part as I can. Remove the rubber and paper and its actually higher than mounting tape, so you can use shells and bigger beads.

Default Ever tried Fun Foam

I use fun foam for mine. Since I usually use a die cutter for the shape, I just die cut the foam too and then mount with a permanent adhesive. No leaking fill!

Thank you Joy and Dawson for the suggestion to use the foam from the excess rubber when I cut out my stamp sets. And I just threw out a ton when I mounted two sets yesterday (too bad I didn't see this sooner), but I'll remember to save it from now on! I'm going to try a shaker card soon (next tutorial on my list to download!).

Default Excess rubber from mounting stamps

You can also use the rubber you cut off when mounting stamps in lieu of Stampin' Dimensionals.

I just made my first shaker cards yesterday. Now I am hooked and I've been dreaming up some designs.

I cut the mounting tape in half lengthwise, it saves money and you have less to hide.

Good luck.
