The way I was introduced to the chalks, you touch your blender pen to a corner of the chalk to pick up color, then draw with it on your paper. You touch the corner of the chalk so you don't get the middle of the chalk wet. You can clean your blender pen by scribbling on white scratch paper until the color is gone, then pick up another color. Hope this helps.
