Default Looking for pocket card template for wedding invite

My middlest daughter is getting married in September and she is sure that her mother and older sister will create the most beautiful wedding invitation ever! We have been on line looking for a square (6x6 or 7x7) pocket card design. We have found a few, but I was sure that all you creative ladies at Splitcoast would have even better ideas as well as a template or instructions. Her color is deep purple - possible champagne accent... If any one can help out it would GREATLY be appreciated. Thanks Cheryl

Hi,

I dont have a template but I do have a word of advice.. I made my wedding invites 6x6 before I realized that the postage was more for that size. I also had a little bit of trouble finding envelopes that I liked in that size.

They were wonderful and everyone commented on how great they looked but, if I had it to do over I DEFINATLY would not have gone with the size just to save the postage.

There is a great horizontal double pocket card in MaggieMay's gallery. It's made with a single sheet of cardstock, but only makes a card that's standard size, not the 6x6 that you want. (But you need to consider the postage change with square cards!) The folds on her card are easy, once you get the hang of it, and you can fold the "non-pocket" piece either in front or in back of the pockets, depending on your preference. Good luck with your search--no pressure, Mom!

I ditto that odd size thing. We did double envelopes for just a 6 x 9 invite and it bumped it over the allowable size for a single stamp. You'll also pay more for square cards, plus the problem of finding envelopes over 5.5" square. You need to make sure it is less that 1/4" in thickness or you will really pay a ton for postage!

IF you are set on the square cards and don't mind making the envelopes to go with them, there is an excellent tutorial on Scor - Pal by Lauren Meader for making custom envelopes to fit ANY size card!

This is my first post but I just wanted to suggest that if you use 5x5 cards that you then use envelopes for 5x7 cards and seal off the "extra" length - I received a store bought Christmas card that got around the postal charges for square cards this way and thought it was a jolly good idea.

Thank you for all your great suggestions! I am still not sure which direction we will be heading, but I will be sure to post pics when we decide.
