Lattice technique template?
I'm trying to do a lattice fold for one of my upcoming stamp camps. I have the Technique Junkie CD, but it doesn't give measurements or a printable template for the cuts. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how narrow, long, and the angle that works best?
Thanks! laura |
Laura- I have a Paper template that I use and copy every time I use it, but don't know how to explain it very well to you! First of all, alternate the lengths. Use a long one, short one, long one, short one, etc. The angle would need to be about 45 degrees, but you can do that by eyeing it up. Take a regular piece of paper folded in half and cut as long as a regular card front. It doesn't have to be as wide, just as long. Then, with a sharpie mark lines so that you have approximately 12 marks on it. I would say do an inch, then a half inch long, alternating. They should be about 3/8" apart. Practice cutting that and folding that until you find a length you like, and then copy it. That's why you use a sharpie, by the way, and a regular piece of paper. You can see through the paper to draw along the original lines that you just cut, because the sharpie is still there and you can see through the computer paper. Okay, so now you've got a template you drew yourself and you place it over a piece of of folded cardstock. Use white the first time or cream and try the following: Place a scrap piece of cardstock the SAME length or longer than your card front along where the longest line will end. Hold your cardstock there and sponge the inside of that. You'll have to do it on both the front and back size of the outer, then turn to the inside and do another color. Then, when you place your template and cut it, after it's folded you'll have two colors in the lattice, and it will be "Wow!" I wish I knew if I could to a tutorial, I could show you SO much easier! I hope this helps. If you want to PM me, feel free, or email me at [email protected]

Debbi - you're an angel!
I tried your directions and they worked perfectly. I am in sort of a rush to plan these projects (we're going out of town tomorrow morning) and am feeling the crunch. I'll have to post my finished project when DH isn't hollering at me to finish packing! ;) Happy Mother's Day! laura |

Well, I finally got my scanner working so that I could post the card I made with Debbi's awesome directions! Then I couldn't find the stupid card I made! Ugh. Well, I found the card and here it is! I did this at my May stamp camp. I think there is a little something missing, but they liked it, so what do I know!?!
Thanks Monique for posting the pattern! I wish I had seen it sooner...it took me a bit to create the right one from Debbi's great directions. Thanks! laura |
