Can anyone tell me how to make a gate fold card with a view?
I saw a card on Pinterest that was a gate fold, BUT it had an opening on the front that showed the picture or stamped image that was on the inside "back" of the card.
The person who showed her card had linked it to an online store that sold the card blanks. But I am sure that the crafters of SCS could tell me how to make the card without me paying ($5.99 per pack of 3:shock for theirs.
The only way I can think of doing something similar is to make an extended like gate fold card, keeping the back of the card the card's size, then fold the front of the card somehow so the label die can be put through each side?
Can you guys help me with this? I got a great idea for a card for Hubby if I can figure out the cut out fold.
Thanks in advance for the help!!

If you want to make a 5 x 7 card, cut your cardstock to 10 x 7. Then fold in the front at 2-1/2" on each side to meet in the middle to make your gatefold. Your card with both sides folded in will be 5 x 7.
Find a die that will fit on each side of the gate, i.e. less than 2-1/2", open the folds, and center the die in each side of your folded fronts and cut out your "view."
I would probably lightly trace around the cut-out part with pencil, so that when you open each side, you can see where to stamp your image so that it shows through the holes you have cut in the front "gates."

Dini - that was such a great video to demonstrate what could be a complicated technique! Thanks for sharing that here. Next week is a craft vacation and this just gave me a new Christmas card idea to try. I might avoid striped paper...not my best skill to match! Diane
Thank you, DINA K. so much for the video!! I will start that as soon as I get done with the gardening (when did these weeds sneak in my flower bed?!), before it gets much hotter (93) outside.
It will be nice to sit in my cool studio making this card after broiling in the garden!!
Thank you so much again!

Reason: added a name
Thank you to those who helped with my technique question.
I really appreciate it!!
As to finding that card picture again on Pinterest, I cannot remember how I got to it.
Pinterest can be a lot like the internet itself. You start out reading one page on one subject, let's say, local news, and then 30 minutes later, you are reading an article on foot odor and how to beat it!!! How I got there, no idea!
The same for Pinterest. I was looking at cards done with Technique Tuesday's latest Greenhouse Society's monthly stamp, then I noticed I was looking at multimedia art canvases and then back onto interesting card folds, where I am sure I saw that card, but am unsure of how many boards I went through to find it!:p:p:p

I just did a card also from dawns website called the double gatefold double peekaboo. You could make it single but check out my gallery to see if its something you'd be interested in, or go to dawns website or YouTube to see hers.
