Default Help with the wrought iron punch

   Ok, this is going to sound really silly, but I need help with using my wrought iron punch. I have seen some beautiful cards that have the punch used at all four corners to "hold in" a layer of cardstock. I know how to use the punch for the lower corners, but how can I get the upper corners punched? Do I punch a layer of cardstock the same size as my main card and just snail it to the actual card? Thanks!

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. In the catty it says to cut your layer to be punched 1/2" larger than the layer you're tucking into the corners in order to get a perfect mat.

With the wrought iron punch, if you want all four corners punched, you have to do it as a separate piece that you then attach to your card. The inside layer that tucks under the corners has to be 1/2" shorter both ways to fit (so if your outside piece measures 5-1/2 x 4-1/4, your inside piece should be 5 x 3-3/4).

For the other corner punches (the slots and the pockets) you need to make the inside piece only 1/4 inch shorter both ways.

EK Success has come out with some different corner punches called "Card Creators." The corner guides on these are a little different and you can actually punch all 4 corners of the front of a folded card with them. It involves punching some from the back and some from the front and using this line for part and that line for the other part, though, so I still do it as a separate piece that I stick to the card at the end.

Sorry, long answer to a short question. Short answer, yes. If you want all four corners punched, you need to do it as a separate piece and then snail it to the card.

You don't HAVE to adhere the punched layer. The corner slots hold it in pretty well on their own.

No, but you need to adhere the big piece (that you've punched) to the card front

There is a way to cut all 4 corners. I think the instructions to do this are on the package that the punch came in.
