Question Help Needed with On Board letters

Hi -

I've never tried the on board letters before. How do I go about coloring them? What do I use? Ink? Markers? Calk? Paper? I'm not sure how to get the looks I'm seeing everywhere.

Hi Karyn,
If you want to use ink, I would recomment putting a base coat of Gesso on the chipboard. Otherwise the ink will really get "sucked" into the chipboard and you won't get the color that you want. You can also adhere patterned patter to them, and then even ink a design on top of that. I haven't used chalk on mine before, but you can always experiement and see what you get. Even if it's not the look you want, you can always paint over it, or cover it up with paper and start over again. :-D

Hi Karyn.

I love coloring chipboard with the Making Memories Acrylic Scrapbook Paint or with the Chalk Inks like the retired SU Petal Point Fluid Chalk ink (these inks are not really chalk but a hybrid of pigment and waterbased dye inks).

Here's a link to some chipboard I colored using the Chalk inks. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

I also love to cover chipboard with scrapbook paper.

We did something at a stamp camp that I thought was wonderful! I'm not 100% sure, but I think we first used craft ink to cover the letter. We used a darkish color - maybe burgundy. Then we covered it with clear embossing powder and set the heat tool to it. We used the big flower, but try it on something small first. The result was amazing! It looked like an enameled piece of jewelry!
