Can anyone tell me if odorless mineral spirits and odorless solvent is the same thing? I live in a smaller town and no one (not even the art store) knows the answer to this question. I can't find Gamsol or odorless mineral spirits, all I can find is odorless solvent. Please help

The stuff I have says Odorless Paint Thinner on the front of the label, but in the ingredients it says odorless mineral spirits. Do you have a hardware store or a paint store? They should have some there. If nothing else, you could order Gamsol from Inky Antics. That's where many of the gals have been getting it.
Thanks, I did see odorless paint thinner at home depot but the gentleman working there couldn't tell me if it was the same as odorless mineral spirits and when I aswered his question about what I needed it for he looked at me like I was insane! Thanks for your help

Yeah, the closest Michaels is an hour away and when I was there a couple of weeks ago, they were out of it, went to home depot today.....off the play!!!

Walmart carries Odorless Mineral Spirits in the paint department. The brand I got was Kleen-Strip. It was under $4 for a 32 oz. plastic bottle. I know the tutorial for the Prismacolor technique said not to use the mineral spirits from the paint department, but I figured I didn't have anything to lose for the price, plus I don't have easy access to a Michael's or an art supply store. It worked great with the Prismacolors--I haven't gotten any Gamsol yet.
I bought a large bottle of the Mona Lisa mineral spirits at Michaels. Since its in such a large bottle, I'm sure I will spill it. Does anyone have any suggestions for a smaller container?
If you buy the gamsol from inky antics it comes with the felt lid that you can rub the stumpy against. You only have to buy this bottle once and then refill it from the cheap stuff.
you can also tack a bingo ink bottle, empty it, rinse out the extra ink from the dauber and refilll with with the stuff you bought.
if you do the bingo ink bottle, make sure it isnt one that has been tested at the store, its more of a pain to clean the sponge.

When I do this technique, I pour a little bit of the odorless mineral spirits in an old dosing cup from liquid medicine. I've never needed more than about 1/2 tsp. at a time. I store the cup with the bottle to make sure it doesn't get used for medicine any more.
I agree with Ally. I bought the big can of Gamsol from dickblick some time ago. When www.inkyantics.com started selling it in the small bottle I ordered it. It's VERY handy with the sponge dauber thingy on top and it has a lid too.
