I cut my matboard on my swingarm cutter. Decide the size you want it to be, plus how many pages.
You can buy a punch at most art/paper art stores that is similar to an anywhere punch only heavyduty.
Cut your pages slightly smaller than the size of your cover. Decide where your holes are going to be and how many
I usually stick to 3 holes, sometimes 2 because I can use my regular 3 hole punch to do the pages with.
You can put this together with things like jump rings, split rings, binder rings, ribbon, cord or hemp. If you are going to tightly bind, then make sure the cover will open.
The way I accomplish this is to cut my front cover slightly narrower than the back and split off about 1/2". Lay these 2 pieces on back cover to make sure they line up and tape together to form a hinge. The hinge piece is where you will put your holes.
lay your punched pages in between back cover and hinged front cover and bind it together. Of course, inbetween all these confusing instructions you will cover the outside and inside of covers with paper or fabric or stamping.
I know this may seem confusing, but I took a simple bookmaking class then went home and proceeded to do it my way. Play around and have fun, they are addicting.
I have made little books using sketchbook sets and interesting sayings. I love each and every one because I have totally put myself into it.
Another thing is to buy premade kits of a few different types and then copycopycopy the technique.
