Hi,
I am looking for input on Glassy Glass.
I am trying to make a technique book for my customers and would like to add a page on Glassy Glass Enamel. I would like to put a short list of 10-15 things that can be done with it.
Any ideas would be wonderful.
Thanks,
Terry F.
Here is an idea I have used:
1. Use a direct to paper technique to create a colored background.
2. After background is dry apply a layer of VersaMark to the background.
3. Sprinkle UTEE over VersaMark.
4. Heat with heat tool (sometimes heating from underneath the paper works best so you don't blow the UTEE off the paper.)
5. When first layer is melted but still warm sprinkle a second layer of UTEE over background.
6. Heat again.
7. While second layer still warm sprinkle a 3rd layer on background.
8. Before heating this layer ink up an image with pigment ink. A bold line image will work better than a solid image or a real detailed one. Encore gold works well but any craft ink that coordinates with your background would work.
9. Heat the 3rd layer of UTEE.
10. While layer is warm press stamp into melted UTEE.
11. Allow UTEE to cool then remove stamp from UTEE.
12. Viola you have a relieve stamped image.
There are all sort of books out on using UTEE, particularly clear UTEE. Is Glassy Glass a similar product? If so, Suze Weinberg's books would be helpful. She has a melting pot product to melt the UTEE and coat things or make pins or apply a clear enamel. I just got a melting pot for my birthday and plan on trying things using the clear UTEE first.
