I saw the neatest stand someone made with a fork
to hold your finished card one here. Do you remember
it? I didn't save it and now i want to make one.
I have looked everywhere i can think of and still
can't find it. Can you help me find it.
Thanks
Thank you so much Lydia!!! That was the one i was looking for. I knew i
wasn't crazy and i saw it somewhere. Thank You. Now to find those forks
i put away just for this.
Is there some directions on how to make a Fork Easel? Please help
I bought one of these at a flea market and then found a bag of six really neat old forks at the same flea market for $1.00!
I was able to bend the forks with 2 pliers (one with regular gripping surface and one needle nose to bend the ends in those tiny curls). I did have to hold each tine over the flame on my gas stove for about 30 seconds before I could bend it.
The only problem I had was the plier teeth left marks on the forks. I'll bet jewelers have tools that would not leave marks.

There were no pictures available and the links we unproductive as well. It sounds like the technique you used will work great..I'll have to try it ;)

Sorry, I guess the pics I just posted in my gallery were deleted because they weren't stamping. I'll try just posting them in this message.
Wow! How cool is that! I've never seen these. I have taken a fork and bent the handle about have way down the shank. You bend it so that it almost touches itself. Then you bend the tines of the fork so that you can put a split ring for your keys on them. Now you have a cool key ring that you can slip over the top edge of your pants, purse, pocket, etc. I love the one I made, even though it is not a perfect job. I don't have to dig around in the bottom of my purse.

Do you bend the fork toward or away from the tines? Do you have a picture..? [The ability to generate an image in my brain seems to have left me along with my sanity..hope they're having fun together.. ;)]

It doesn't really matter which way you bend it because you will be bending it so that it will almost touch the other part of the fork. The tines I bent away from the bent part so I had room to bend the times enough to enclose the split ring. If I had the ability to post a photo, I would. It's rather hard to explain with words only. Sorry! I do think it would be easier if I would have thought to heat it a little first.
i found some neat forks (unfortunately, stainless not plate) at Salvation Army. Got them bent and they look adorable. I am excited to give them to my neice today for Christmas!! Oh, and I did a little relish fork for a recipe card holder as a bonus.

Diana,
Pretty easy, isn't it? I just love it when a project turns out good. A friend suggested I wrap the teeth of the pliers with painter's masking tape (the blue stuff) to prevent the teeth marks on the fork tines. I haven't tried it yet, but it should work as long as I keep the taped pliers out of the flame. LOL
