I always use Future brand. It is a totally clear acrylic so it doesn't change the color of your pearl ex at all, plus it seals and protects. I love this technique as it can be used on paper or on nonporous surfaces. I just did a domino swap using the "Pearl Ex gets floored" technique and, if I do say so myself, they turned out very nicely.
Just be certain to thoroughly clean your aquapainter when you are done or the Future will gum it up. Some people say to have a seperate aqua just for Future, but I just clean mine up really well and use it for water too. And be sure and use a light touch when you paint. A tiny bit of pearl ex goes a long, long way. HTH
