Does anyone know the technique using Liquid Applique, brayering it on cardstock and heating it?? I did this several years ago, want to try it again, but don't remember exactly how I did it....guess I am getting older. :rolleyes: Thanks!

Hi Lani! I just made a card using this technique. I love the effect! I like to use a piece of brown paper bag instead of cardstock so I can get more texture by wrinkling it. Here's my card with instructions in the description:

This is SUCH a neat technique! I remember doing it a long time ago too. It just uses so MUCH liquid applique, lol. I remember doing brown on a grocery bag and then stamping a large wolf face on one card. Another was a stamp of baby-sized mocassins that I did over pink liquid applique (baby card). It made them look so real.
Just don't forget to WASH THAT BRAYER immediately!!
I remember doing this a long time ago, too. Just don't forget to wash your brayer IMMEDIATELY. It's really hard to get off if it dries on.
This is such a neat technique. I did a cute baby card once using pink Liquid Applique. I stamped a pair of baby mocassins and they looked so real! It really does look so much like suede. If only it didn't take so much of it!
If you want a little different look, you can kind of smear it on the CS with your finger instead of a brayer. Then heat it. This way you can have several different colors if you want. Here is a card that I did just with my finger.
Wow, I'm glad to have found this thread as I've been planning to do a Faux class, but was not happy with the techniques I was finding to use. This will be perfect. Can anyone tell me though.... I've heard of Liquid Applique, but I'm not 100% sure what it is. It's not in the SU! catalog, right? Does it come in different colors? I'm assuming I can get it in any craft store?
thats wat i was wondering..i was looking at micheal's today in the part where the stuff is to do t-shirts etc..nothin there that said liquid applique..just 100 diff. kinds of fabric paint etc..help please..thx ahead for any replies..loves ya Gail

Well..i just tried the faux suede tech. ..by following what sumone else had said previously..i took a square of brown cs..then w/my bone folder..worked it back n forth (as in curling a ribbon w/sisscors)..it started to separate..i then peeled the 2 peices apart..was great..but...then i took a small peice of very fine sandpaper n sanded it up down back n forth etc..really made a nice nap..looks like and feels like real suede..easy as punch..just do it very lightly as not to tear it..just to give it a nice nap...loves ya Gail

Sorry. Though all you stamper's would know what that was. LOL!!! I guess SU doesn't sell it, so many wouldn't know. I have only been a demonstrator for a few months an dam not familiar with all the products yet.
Got mine from B & J's Art Stamps. I think they have a website now. The stamps are all original art by Judy Duke--alot of southwestern art--they live in NM. It is made by Marvy Uchida. They hadd all kinds of colors. The brown and the burgandy together make a nice "leather" shade. When she worked with it, she just used her finger to blend it and smooth it on the paper. She also used foil underneath with her heat gun to get an even temp.
