Question Gel Cards Exploding

I demo'd the gel card technique last year for a workshop. Recently I have noticed that the ziplock baggie with the hairgel is expanding. I checked with my stampers that were at that workshop & they are experiencing the same peroblem. Has anyone else experienced this?

Never had that happen. I did have some red glitter that turned the clear gel pink. Didn't look so good for a boys card. I recommend testing glitter with gelbefore assembling a card.

Hmmmmm.... could it be that one of the items placed in the gel interacted chemically, to cause the expansion? How long ago, did you demo the technique? Maybe it just happens as it "ages" or with a change in the weather?

Yes it happens after a while, and then the gels evaporates.

I had a customer mention the same thing to me last week. She attended a workshop where they made a gel card and she said it was expanding to the point where she thought it would burst. Luckily she saw it and disposed of it before it ruined her other cards in the box.

Oh- the card is about a year old, and the hair gel was colored with a re-inker.

I've had plain gel (no reinker) do the same. I just assumed they all did this and don't make them unless it's to immediatly mail!
