Question Does anyone know the Bleach technique?

I just saw the most gorgeous card that was created using bleach and not quite navy ink. I have no idea how it was made, and no way to contact the lady who created it. Can anyone tell me how this technique is done? I've looked on the resources page, but may have missed it.

Many thanks for everyone's friendliness and help!!!! We "newbies" really appreciate you sharing your encouragement and expertise!

There are a couple of ways to use bleach, so I'm not really sure which way you are referring to...

One way is to make yourself a folded pad out of paper towels and soak them with bleach. Stamp your stamp into the bleach and then on to your dark cardstock. Some colors have better results than others. When the paper is dry, go ahead and color in with your ink or just leave it the way it is.

Another way is to emboss on your paper, and use an aquapainter filled with bleach to paint bleach inside the lines. This kind of makes a more defined image than the above way.

Do you know how to post a link to the card you're talking about? Might help to see what it is exactly you're wanting to understand...

When you stamp with bleach, like explained above, wash your stamps with soap and water as soon as you are done. This is so it won't damage your rubber.

Never thought abt making a little pad to stamp from... I learned to use a bleach pen but the pad would work MUCH better for things with detail. thanks!!

and make sure you are not saturating your stamp too heavily (making it too wet) in the bleach or your lines come out thickly bleached.
Have fun, it's great to see what color the cardstock will come out when it dries and it's a pretty effect!

i actually made myself a pad for bleach. i took a plastic lid (like a margarine tub lid or a cool whip lid) and cut a piece of white felt to fit inside. then i added the bleach a little at a time til it's evenly wetted but not saturated. when not using i keep it in a ziplock bag and just add a small amount of bleach when it starts to dry out. if something happens to it you're not out anything- just make a new one.
another tip for bleaching: when you've reached the point you're happy with the amount of bleaching, dry your work with a heating tool, as it will continue to spread as it air dries. also, it's fun to see what colors the papers bleach out to. for example, one brand of black i had bleached out to brown. another black turned green. so experiment on a scrap beforehand. have fun! -deb

I didn't know there were so many ways of using bleach - wouldn't have thought of it on my own. Thanks to everyone for your help....I'll try it and see what happens :-)

You can also get a bleaching pen in the laundry aisle of the grocery store and use that to trace over lines you have stamped or to color in areas you've stamped that are on colored cs.
If the bleaching pen tip is too wide for what you are doing, dip a paint brush into the bleach on the end of the pen and paint with the bleach.

You can also fill an aquapainter with bleach and paint it on you cs.

StazOn will resist bleach. I stamp on glossy cardstock with StazOn and then bleach the image. Let it dry and bleach more to add dimension to some spots.

This one uses the Bleach Stamping Tech.

I don't know if you are interested in this but there's a new product on the market. It's a stamp pad that is used like a bleach stamp pad. You can find it under the new products at www.franticstamper.com. I don't have one yet but it looks like fun and less mess and possibly less smell. It's not bleach according to the description, but some chemical magic I guess .
