Hey everyone! I am taking a printmaking course in college and had the great idea of cutting sintra (signmaking material) down to cuttlebug size, impress an image in it with a pen, pencil, stylus, whatever, ink it up and run it through my cuttlebug, treating it like a press. WELL....I tried it and wow....it worked. Opening new doors for the cuttlebug. Hey just had a thought...what if I tried using a foam meat tray to impress and image into instead of sintra. I'll let you know. For those of you out there wondering what the heck I'm taliking about...google relief printmaking. This is cool stuff!
Not sure the foam meat tray will hold up to the pressure exerted by the Bug but I've made many a stamp from the trays. They work pretty good but need extra ink for a good image. Not as crisp as rubber, though.

The area that you carve away will apear white (or the same color as the paper you choose) and the area that is left will be the color of the ink used. Just remember to carve your words backwards. Like my professor said, this is a mistake you will only make once.
I do agree with Rainsong, more ink is better to achieve a crisper image.

This sounds so interesting but I am visual learner.
I have to google this and learn more.

Here's a tut for making 'stamps' with Scratch Art ScrathFoam and a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder in an original Sizzix (the red one). Go to the March 25 entry to see the actual stamps...
What a fun idea! Will you post back here when you upload a picture of a card that you make using this as an example? :-)
