Brilliant ,fantastic ,wonderful .....just a drag when you do need to use the hammer for holes/eyelets in the middle of cardstock as you have been spoilt using the Crop o Dile :-D
I absolutely love my crop-a-dial!! I have had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand and have NO problem using this! It's the only way to go in my book!!!
I bought mine about a month ago, and honestly I've been intimadated by it... and when I've tried it, it takes little force to set and eyelet, but I am not yet to where I can set one without worring that it will squash the eyelet more than I want it too. Maybe I just need to spend time using it - trial and error. It's not all I had hoped - or as easy - at least not so far - for me! I find it complex to figure out the settings - and I can run a cb - but the cropodile is tougher!
I bought one, used it a few times, and am thinking about returning it to reinvest my money in something I will use more. I don't like the way it smashes the eyelets, and then they are rough on the back. Maybe I'm squeezing too hard? And I really bought it to set the new larger eyelets, which based on pictures in catalogs, look larger, but in reality, the back of the eyelets are the same size as what I had previously most used, 3/8 ", which I can set with other tools I already owned. I really wish I hadn't bought it.
I love it... takes soooooooooo little pressure to set an eyelet and leaves no damage. Looks great on the back side of the eyelet too. Can't beat the silence when setting your eyelets with it....
If you want to set an eyelet in the center of a page using the Crop A Dile, you may want to think about layering... perhaps you could put the eyelet in a punched circle and then glue the punched circle in the middle of the page for example.
Here's a link to a cool video that shows some uses for the Crop A Dile... I love the magazine idea!
I also purchased one about a month or so ago. I put way to much pressure on setting an eyelet and it disappeared. Really,. Where did my eyelet go. It does take so little pressure.
I bought it after watching a demo on HSN. I think I have used it one time. Took me forever to figure out how to use it! I use too much pressure and squash the eyelet. I still cannot figure out how to do the double eyelet thing where you have the rounded part on both sides. I still get the ugly squashed back side of one. I still think it is a great tool....especially for punching the holes and making the depth the same if you are doing more than one....but...I think success with it takes practice.
I love that product. I do not have one YET, but I told DH he is to get me that for christmas. He complains every time I use the old hammer so I told him he could give it to me early if he really wanted to you. Like that will ever happen!
Has anyone been able to set an eyelet without smooshing it? I have yet to do it (especially the smaller ones) and am not squeezing that hard.....is there a trick to it I don't know? I still love it!
I just bought one yesterday and I can't wait to actually do a project with it! I tried setting an eyelet and it did wonderfully. I did some little dry embossed circles and they were adorable. I even took an old magazine and put a huge stack of pages through the hole punch and it cut beautifully!
I love, love love, mine! I've been finding all sorts of things to use it for besides cards. Yesterday I showed an idea for a gift wrap using it and a covered box (you can find it described here). I find myself looking for things to punch. Bottom line - it's a fun and very useful tool.
I love mine too-it is very easy to use. Jump over to you tube and there is a great video on how to use it. My ten year old loves it so much she has put eyelets on every school folder she has. (she set them herself with the crop-a-dile).
I've only used a friends, and I really like it. I do wish something would work so that they eyelets look good on both sides of the paper... Oh, it works even on CD's! Yes, you can punch a hole through a CD.

Love, Love, Love Mine! It's fantastic...I never wanted to set eyelets before I got it because of all the stuff I had to pull out...you know...the anywhere hole punch...the hammer...the mats...all that has changed since I got my Crop A Dile! I've actually had it a long time...about 8 months now...I'm so thrilled that SU! carries it now...lucky for me...I have a customer who wants my pink handles...and I want black ones...works out perfectly for us both! I know all of my customers just love it! You can also use it to dry emboss with! Have fun with it! They are great tools and you can put eyelets into anything! I've been trying to refrain from putting eyelets into everything I can my hands on! Happy Stampin! God Bless!
I too love my Crop-a-dile. Funny thing about it, I was told to be careful if your 'top heavy'. Could not understand why, until I went to use it and being that the width of the grips are soooo far apart you tend to bring it close to your chest to squeeze closer to the inside handles. Oops, guess they should put a warning on it, you know that when they do it means someone actually had it happen to them. Yep, I did. Careful, but it's a great tool.
I LOVE MINE! I like an earlier post never used my eyelets, just too much trouble. Now I use them all the time. I do wish it would reach a little further but so worth every penny!!!
I absolutely love mine. I had a workshop where we covered cans with paper and then put eyelets around the top. I looked over and my six year old had covered a can with paper and set three eyelets already! It punches holes in metal so easily.

I don't believe there is any difference between the colors. I love MINE!! I used it almost ALL of the time. I normally use the punch on it compared to just a regular punch too. It can punch through ANYTHING!! I've used it to punch through cardstock, cardboard, CDs (so yes! I know how well it works with those!! ). I am so glad I broke down and bought one. I probably wouldn't fuss with eyelets if I didn't have it.

I'd like to see some of these cans you're talking about. They sound neat! Do you have a picture posted anywhere?
I see that is tends to 'squesh' and distort the tops of the softer eyelets like SU. I have a LOT of eyelets and many different manufacturers. I don't have that problem with the other eyelets. I guess I just need to use a lighter touch for the SU ones. I would give up my CAD for ANYTHING!!
OP.......smartest move you ever made.

I think what I like best about it is it can be used by everyone. I teach in three stores and have a variety of students, young and old. Kids and handle it and those with 'grip' problems can use it with ease. It changes everything! I can't imagine what I did without one!
I bought mine in August whilst I was on holiday in California. I really love it, and love how you can see where you're hole punching.
At times, I have applied too much pressure and have squashed the eyelet into the card, but now I'm getting the hand of it, with all those Christmas cards I'm making ;)
Is there a difference between the pink and purple[/COLOR] one?
I don't know of any differences in colors. I think it just depends on where you get yours. I will try to take a picture of a can. I have never put anything on this site before, but there is no time like the present to start. I have gotten so many great ideas from this site, that I would gladly share mine.
The colors don't make a difference in the product. It is about where they come from though. The pink and green are from the company, WeRMemoryKeepers; the purple is made especially for QVC and now they are producing it in black for SU.
i did love mine until dh broke it. u can punch through records, cds, and the flat seal on canning jars without any problems. i loved it. as u can see i keep talking about in the past tense as my dh broke it trying to punch a new hole in the dogs collar GRRR!!!! dont let your dh do that.

Is it quite okay to punch holes in the cd? I've never tried this before and just wondered if I do this a few times, will I (is it possible) to wear out/blunt the Crop-A-Dile? Just that I saw some lovely notebooks here where they used blank cds for the front and back covers
I love the Crop-a-Dile as well. I use it a lot for dry embossing as well as setting eyelets. I have some samples on my blog (www.learntostampandscrap.com) of dry embossing. I have done it on card stock and on chipboard. It is really and eye catching accent to a project. People are always amazed at the look of the dry embossing on the pieces I have shown them. It is just another fabulous use for this tool.

Hi there,
I'm not sure what you mean when you say you've used the Crop-A-Dile for dry embossing. I've tried looking on your website quickly, but can't find the examples. Can you point me in the right direction please?
Here is a card that a fellow SCS made using the crop-a-dile. You can see the crisp imprint on the gray strip really good. You use the part that you would use set your eyelet.
