Clear embossing powder (EP) can be used with any color pigment ink to make the image rise off the paper. The nice thing about clear EP is that stray little pieces left on your cardstock will not be so obvious after heat setting. Plus, you can use it with any color ink so you do not need lots of colored EP, just inks.
Should you use clear EP with a clear ink, such as Versamark, you will get a great effect on matte cardstock. It will make a glossy tone-on-tone effect. If you do it on white, it will be really hard to see but you can sponge ink on the image and wipe the ink away. The ink will get into the paper around your embossed image and leave the image white.
