No embossing machine, only Fiskars texture plates and embossing stylus. I got the same effect of the blank embossing by laying an oval cut out over the area, that I didn't want to emboss by hand.

After 20 million tries and a very chatty 3 yr old, I got a card made! Enjoy Scarecrow Friend

If it will help anyone, here is the sandwich stack I used for the Cuttlebug, from the bottom up:
Plate A chipboard frame (2 cereal box pieces glued together) embossing folder with cardstock inside 3 or 4 cereal box chipboard pieces Plate B (NOTE: cereal boxes are not all the same thickness, so adjust accordingly.) AND -- for the Big Shot: Multipurpose Platform at Tab 2 chipboard frame (same as above) embossing folder with cardstock inside Cutting pad Just remember every machine is different. If it feels too tight, take something out. I had to remove a plate B and replace it with several layers of chipboard for the cuttlebug. |
Pretty in Pink
Well, it's possible to achieve the look with the Wizard and a stylus and a very sore finger :D. Shame I botched the first attempt by trying to outline the Blossom on textured Bazzill, but I've posted it up beside my finished card. Thanks, Lynn. Now I at least know that if I really, really want this look I can get it :):). |
Thanks Melody...great tips!

Thanks, Lynn, for the instructions on this pretty technique. I have wondered how to do this. I didn't get a card made tonight, but I experimented with the technique and finally was successful.
I used the cardboard that comes with DP for the chipboard. It apparently was not thick enough and my embossing was not sharp enough. So, I added a couple pieces of CS for a shim on Plate A. (Smooth Embossing) When double embossing, my embossed CS was wrinkling. I solved that problem by using just one of the positive pieces rather than two on the Nestie. I hope this makes sense and I hope it helps someone achieve good results. Thanks again, Lynn. |

HERE is mine. I love this technique and have actually done it several times before. I saw the technique on the Cuttlebug Spot blogspot. I love CAS cards so I added no embellishments.
