First things first. Take an excursion through the

I don't know about where you live, but here in Texas school's out and vacation season officially starts tomorrow.
Video link: Is anyone ready for a road trip?
My favorite part is the boot camp. "I've never been off-road before" and "I'm gonna get dirt in my wheels." Today we're going to enjoy some scenery (off-road or not). I often do the off-road version on my cards because I don't like to read detailed instructions. Aaand, I usually end up with some dirt on my wheels. Rachel Tessman, on the other hand, probably never gets dirt on her wheels...
Rachel Tessman did some beautiful Z-fold cards that I discovered on Pinterest. This fold takes full advantage of some of the beautiful
SCENIC designer papers available from Stampin' Up! (and probably other companies as well). Rachel used the colorful underwater scenery from Whale of a Time DSP. Another thing I liked about this technique was that it utilized the 6x6 paper almost completely. If you don't have anything scenic, use what you have. My sample has a scenic stamp and splattered DSP that gives the impression of walking through a meadow. I think if you have any beautiful calendar scenes in your stash, this would be a great stash-buster technique for you.
HERE are the detailed instructions on Rachel's Blog.
General (off-road) instructions:- Start with a 5.5 x 8.5 card base scored at 4.25" (as usual).
- Score the card front at 1.25" and fold outward toward the front of the card.
- Cut the DSP to a height of 5.25.
- Simplified cutting of the scenic panel: Cut into 3 sections measuring 2" each.. Keep in mind that scenery panels need to be mounted sequentially to preserve the scene.
- Mount the left section to the front flap you created--right edge should line up with the right edge of the card and will not have a cardstock base under part of it.
- Mount the middle section just to the left of the center fold of the card. (There will be a large section of card base showing to the left of it. It will be behind the front panel and will not show.)
- Mount the right section just to the left of the fold, leaving a panel for the sentiment which you can fill with a plain paper for easy reading.
- Add a focal image on the front panel and decorate as desired.
- See attached photo for Open & Closed views.
- If these directions make no sense, consult Rachel's blog.
