I joined Splitcoast Fan Club this fall and recently started participating in Teapot Tuesdays, never thinking I would request a tea party. I would like to request a tea party for my daughter-in-laws' brother, Nick. He is a 36 year old man who was very healthy a month ago. He is not married and has no children. His sister, mom and 2 brothers are supporting him through his medical ordeal.
Nick has been in an essentially medically induced coma for over a month. He was originally diagnosed with pneumonia after going to the doctor for severe flu-like symptoms. After moving through 3 different hospitals, he is now in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at a major hospital in St. Paul, MN. Nick was eventually diagnosed with Blastomycosis, a severe pulmonary fungal infection in his lungs. An illness that can only be contracted in a moist wooded soil near waterways. He would have had to inhale the fungal spores.
He has had a lung collapse and is on ECMA, which is Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, also know as extracorporeal life support, a technique which provides prolonged cardiac and respiratory support to persons whose heart and lungs are unable to provide an adequate amount of gas exchange or perfusion to sustain life.
<style></style><style></style>
His doctors are confident given how strong and healthy Nick was coming into this that he can survive this. His ordeal has been heartbreaking for his family, even though he is unconscious and has no idea what has been happening to him since mid-October.
His sister has been updating everyone on Caring Bridge:
<style></style>"Nick's medical team has stressed that this is a slow process and we expect him to remain on ECMO for about another 3 weeks, however it is very early to determine a timeline. Once he's off ECMO they expect him to remain in the ICU and then eventually a rehabilitation facility. This recovery process will be several months long."
"Nick is still unconscious, however if any one would like to send a card I'd be happy to read it to him and put it in his room for when he does wake up!"
Nick Sonnen
805 5th Street South
Stillwater, MN 55082
Sorry this is such a long request, but I tried to condense it as much as possible without diminishing the severity of Nick's ordeal. This is Nick's Caring Bridge link: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/nicksonnen/journal
Thank you for considering this request.

Hello Ladies,
Sabrina suggested I might contact you. My dear Mother-in-Law has her 99th birthday coming up Jan 3rd and I was wondering if a tea party would be possible for her. She moved to a retirement community last year after 65 years in the same house. She drove her own car until 5 years ago and is pretty independent still. She loves jig-saw puzzles, reading, playing euchre, and knitting. Still goes up to the cottage with me and loves to feed the chickadees and nuthatches sunflower seeds.
She is:
Irene Jones
100 Ken Whillans Drive Apt. 320
Brampton, ON
Canada
L6V 0A4
I know the postage to Canada might be an issue and timing too. If not this year maybe next year when she is 100? :-)
Thanks!

I am asking for cards from your stash for a friend. Matt is a Pastor & has heart problems. His wife, via FB, asked for a card shower.
Angel's post: Okay...card shower time. Matt will be at MUSC for 2 weeks. This is his room 5068 the ARC building. Hospital address...96 Jonathan Lucas St, Charleston, SC 29425 Thank you all. Thank you for walking the journey with us and most importantly, lifting him up to God who is our sustainer. No matter what the truth remains, God is good.
If you would like to send a card to Matt Thompson, please do. He is an Ohio State fan also

THANK YOU Teapotters! We had a very successful and fulfilling 2018. As of now, we are booked through the rest of this year; however, you may start submitting requests for 2019 tea parties.
Going forward, it is not necessary to include specific details or ailments. It's assumed that if a tea party request is made, it's for someone that can certainly use a pick-me-up. If certain details will help determine the sort of cards that need to be sent, please PM jacqueline and naturecoastcrafter and we'll work it out with the hostesses. We also love hosting tea parties to celebrate special birthdays or other occasions. If you know of someone celebrating a milestone this year, reserve a spot now (especially time-sensitive requests).
It also helps that when making your request you include a little something about the recipient such as favorite things, colors, hobbies, interests, etc. so the hostesses can tailor their challenge around the recipient. You also need to be sure to include their full name and mailing address. That's it - easy peasy.
If you haven't already, check out the Sunshine Station. Here, we list destinations that are ongoing or centered around a certain cause/issue. Cards from your stash are perfect for the Sunshine Station (or you can make & send new ones). The Sunshine Station is updated from time to time as new destinations arise and could include card requests for our troops, someone highlighted in local/national new stories, victims/families of national tragedies, etc. If you hear of anything locally or know of any card drives, let us know and we'll post the details in the Sunshine Station.
Again, thank you for supporting the Teapot Tuesday Challenge and Splitcoaststampers. And, a big THANK YOU on behalf of all the recipients who've received your warm fuzzies.
Jacqueline,
Here is a story from a friend. I hope you will consider her grandson, Cole for a teaparty.
My 3 year old grandson has the brittle bone disease osteogenesis imperfecta. This is a life long disease with no cure. Up until now he's been fine but he took a spill this past weekend when he slipped on a patch of ice and broke his leg. Let me tell you I freaked out a bit when I found out but that's a whole other story. Anyway, Monday he went and had a full leg cast put on which he has to be in it for 6-8 weeks :( Way no fun for a toddler let me tell you. The first day he did o.k....you know just kickin' back watching tv.... Well that's no fun anymore and he's done with just sittin' around.
Since he's so little there's not many things to keep him occupied for long periods of time because he likes to go and do. He was always on the go so I've been trying to think of things that he might enjoy. I happen to think he might enjoy opening happy mail...I mean don't we all.
So this is where my favor comes in....
Would like to help cheer up a little boy who's in for a long haul? Since we all love to make cards I was hoping that maybe some of you might like to send him a bright fun card suitable for a toddler. It doesn't have to be anything fancy or over the top....just a simple card to make him smile. His name is Cole and his favorite color is blue and he loves all sorts of animals but cat's and dog's most. I'm hoping that this might be a fun activity (opening the cards together) that he might enjoy and even look forward to.
Cards can be sent to Cole in care of: Roni Johnson 611 W. South St. Albion, IN 46701
Blessings, Sue Craig-bensarmom

I would like to request a teaparty for one of our own teapotters, Tonda Baldwin. She is having some serious health issues, and could use some cheer. Her address is:
I posted this in the DDAlumni thread & Carla suggested I post it here. So here's what I posted:
Hi y'all! I didn't know where to post this, but when I saw this tweet about a news story, I thought, hey, we make cards! I already have mine ready to mail so I thought I'd share the story & see if anyone else wants to send a card to this WW2 vet who's 93 yrs old.
Awesome! Thanks Julie. I'll definitely add him to our schedule.

My sister found out a month or so ago that she has Ovarian Cancer. She has not really told anyone except immediate family because she does not want everyone in town knowing. She just completed her second round of Chemo. She has one more and then they hope to be able to do the surgery to remove the cancer. Her doctor is talking very positively so we are hoping for the best. Since she doesn't want the hometown folks to be talking about it all the time, I thought some encouragement from outside sources would maybe be OK with her. So my request is for a Teaparty for my sister. She loves flowers and gardening. They have also always had dogs, cats, horses, and other animals so any of those themes would be great. I just want her to know that she is being thought about even if she won't let anyone else know.
Thanks for your efforts. It would mean a lot to me, as I know it would her.

I am wondering if you would be interested in sending cards to a fellow SCS friend. She has been in the hospital for the past three weeks. Caterina has had gastro problems for many years. The docs thought surgery was the answer. However, she is still on IV's. She is one of the prayer warriors on SCS. She is a delightful lady who is always thinking of others. I would love to see her receives some happy mail!
She loves flowers and bright colors. You can send her religious card, too!
Sabrina reminded me of this thread on a comment she left on my card. My son in law sent me the request. A 12 year old boy named Mel was diagnosed with cancer in November and really isn't doing well. His aunt is collecting cards to forward to him because the family doesn't want his address out in cyber world. Her name is:
Rachel Ripley 419 Eagles Way
Troy, IL 62294
My son in law is friends with Mel's mom. He told me that Mel has always loved opening cards. That is why they are asking for cards.
Hi, My Mom will be 83 on April 6th. She is lonely and a box full of cards would make her smile. She rarely receives happy mail as her friends send e mail.
Plz send me a PM and I'll share address, I don't feel comfortable putting it in this thread.
Thanks

I would like to request a tea party. I have a friend who can’t seem to catch a break...the past year has been one major health diagnosis after another. Today, she received yet another dose of bad news. She was diagnosed with another major health issue. She loves blue, hydrangeas. Religious cards are great.
I have a big and heartfelt request for an old splitcoast gal, Chris Dickinson. Her name on here is chrissyd723. Chris resides in Wisconsin, but is currently living with her MIL. She is intensively caring for her MIL who is going through some rough cancer stuff.
I asked her if Sandy would be interested in some teapot cheer and she said she most definitely would find that encouraging. She described her as being "such a trooper."
I think it would be nice if we could maybe send a card of encouragement to Chris, as well!

Oh my goodness, Pam, Sandy lives in my city and I know exactly where Woodfield Ct is located. I will have to get in touch with Chris about meeting for lunch one day. That is the exciting part of your request but I sure hate to know her MIL is battling cancer. She sounds like such a strong person.

I am requesting a tea party for an old family friend, Bob Otzelberger. He and his wife were good friends of my parents. He will be 98 on April 24. He is a WWII Navy veteran on the submarine USS Dentuda. He is a long time resident of my village, was the post master for many years and is my surrogate Dad, since my Dad died in 1990. We love him to bits. He has a form of dementia where he can't find the words, kind of like a stroke, but his memory of the past is uncanny. He and my dad were two of the veterans who built by hand the WWII monument in Menomonee Falls, WI. He's the last one left. I hope you can squeeze this in soon. Thanks. Jean

I would like to request a Teapot party for my little sister, Heidi Gonzales (13-years younger than me). She was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer and the fast growing variety. As she was not getting the medical help she needed in Redding, CA where she lives...eight weeks after her diagnosis, they had not started any treatment or arrived at a definitive diagnosis. She contacted the Cancer Centers of America in Phoenix, AZ and made a trip a week ago for a second opinion. We are thankful that she did, as it is them who finally arrived at a decision of what kind of cancer she actually had and the course of treatment.
She will have to be away from home and down in AZ for at least six weeks to receiving radiation and chemo treatments, which starts tomorrow, Monday--April 22. I thought a tea party would be lovely for her during that time to uplift her spirits and give her encouragement to fight the good fight. Unfortunately, she has not been receiving good news for quite a while...and handmade cards are always good news!
She is a cardmaker and talented crafter herself and is familiar with Splitcoaststampers, though I don't believe she has ever actually set up a gallery, she does visit the site. She is responsible for introducing me to it back in 2008.

Had to come by and give huge thanks to everyone who sent me cards during one of the most difficult challenges with illness. Please know the happy mail was such a welcome as I continue to recover. God bless each and every one of your wonderful ladies who blessed me.
I saw this on our local news here in Massachusetts about a 4 year old girl that has a disorder that makes her sick when she eats food. She will be going into the hospital next month. She loves cards, and her parents want to cover her hospital room walls with them. You can read the story here.
Thought this would be perfect in the Sunshine Station. Thank you.
