MMTPT774 – May 23, 2023 – A Splash of Color (and Some Flowers)
Teapot Tuesday Challenge MMTPT774 A Splash of Color (and Some Flowers)
Anyone is welcome to play in the weekly Teapot Challenge - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something of the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, sending your card to the listed guest of honor is 100% voluntary - it's not a requirement but will be very well appreciated. Just have fun!
This week's challenge hostess is: jacqueline/Jacqueline
CHALLENGE: Elke, SCS tropicalsmiles, submitted this week’s teaparty request for her mother. Elke wrote, “I was hoping to send a tea party to my mom. She suffered a stroke in March and was home for a week then, sadly, she had three more mini strokes and now is in the hospital. It affected her short-term memory. She will remain in the hospital for 3-4 months. The hospital has no TV's (due to Covid) and they’re not returning anytime soon. There are no pictures on the walls, or anything to look at, so I thought perhaps, a shower of flower cards. My mom loves flowers. Hopefully this could brighten up the room and her.”
We’re on it Elke!
My challenge is to create a colorful background to serve as a backdrop for some lovely flowers. Pull out those watercolors, inks, Brusho’s, etc. Maybe you’ll do a little ink-blending or smooshing, watercolor over a heat embossed or stamped background…get as messy as you want. You must create a background – no patterned paper and no white backgrounds. Design something that is sure to brighten up, what sounds like, a drab hospital room. . CARD TYPE/THEME: Thinking of You, Sending Sunshine, Hello, Encouragement
SEND CARDS TO: Waltraud Wittenburg 6530 Dover Road
Nanaimo, British Columbia
V9V 1A6
CANADA
Be sure to you use KEYWORD MMTPT774 in your upload and post a comment here so we can all see your card!
Do you know someone that could use some well wishes, encouragement or all around warm fuzzies? Consider nominating them as a guest of honor (a.k.a. destination station) for an upcoming tea party. Send your request to Jen via PM or e-mail [email protected]. Include SCS Teaparty Request in the subject line.
MMTPT774 Waltraud
Elke I hope this uplifts your Mom and that she makes a full recovery.
Jacqueline great challenge today!

Late to the party, but here is my Succulent Hello for Elke's Mom. Not flowers, but colorful cacti! :-)
Off to make an envelope, and then to the PO to send it!

I'm sending a card to Waltraud too. It doesn't fit the challenge in terms of making my own background, but it does have flowers! FS851 Three Flowers by Donna3d at Splitcoaststampers
Thinking of you Elke and your whole family. Hope Waltraud's stay in the hospital goes quickly and she feels better soon! Hugs, Donna

I am so sorry, but the card I mailed to Waltraud has been returned by the Post Office, with one of those yellow stickers that says "Not deliverable as Addressed, Unable to Forward." Postage is not an issue, as I took it to my PO and my always-friendly counter person weighed, measured, and looked everything up to give me the correct amount.
I did "copy-and-paste" the address from the first post of this Teaparty thread, so maybe I lost something along the way....however, what is on my envelope looks the same as what's in the post, to me! If anyone can shed some light on what I might have done wrong, please let me know! :-)
Again, I am so, so sorry that Waltraud will now be one card short for happy mail.

Liz, if you think the address is right then it probably is and it was just a goof up at the Post Office. I have had mail returned that I knew was correctly addressed. Since this was going to Canada, did you remember to add CANADA to your address. I don't do any international mailing except for here on SCS but that could make a difference, And, personally, I would resend it. It's never too late to get happy mail when you're stuck in the hospital. Take it to your always-friendly postal worker and maybe she can resend without you having to pay postage again. Good luck.

Debbie, thanks for your response! I had highlighted and copied the address EXACTLY as it appears here in the thread, so it spells out British Columbia, and has the postal code on a separate line. I did include CANADA. In googling how to address an envelope to Canada, I found that there is to be no punctuation (oops, my highlight included a comma!), and the province name is to be abbreviated, like our state names are. Also, the postal code should follow the "BC", like our zip codes do.
So, I have made a new label and will send the card in a new envelope! I am learning something all the time, which is a good thing! :-)
