Eeekk! There are lots of tempting goodies being posted from CHA. I'm challenging myself to use at least 5 un-inked stamps before buying anything new. (Maybe I need to do this every month. )
I have soooo many stamps! I don't need to ever buy another stamp!
We were flipping through channels one day recently & there was some show where a lady was talking about counting the yarn & fabric she had. When she realized she had enough to use one every day for 5 years, she decided she needed to use some. My boys wanted to know how many stamp sets I have... ummm... I have NO idea & I'm NOT counting! ;)
I know, I have so many that I have lost count although not as many as one lady that was mentioned on FB- they are auctioning off over a million stamps that she had purchased but I was under the impression that she had not stamped with them (she has a "hoarding" problem)...so sad to hear and a wake up call of sorts...I looked at quite a few of the box lots that were part of the auction and she had many duplicated sets in different boxes.
In a way it was like watching the hoarder shows on TV- makes you feel a bit better about yourself but also, that you do not want to become one...
I told my hubby about this lady and at least he mentioned that I do stamp with mine (love him for sure!)! Now that he is retiring and my job ended last year, we will not have as much income as before, so I will have to be more careful with my purchases plus frankly, I do have way too much already.
I will still need to re-plenish my cardstock at times and, of course to stay active as a SU! demo, either sell or buy enough per quarter, but I will need to be careful on the many 50-70% sales that seem to entice me every time!
Actually, I am stamping right now with a very old retired stamp that I do not think I have ever created a card with yet...Wolf (I have owned it since 2002 or so? I know it retired in 2004)- my husband loves wolves and we are celebrating our 33rd Anniversary together tomorrow so I hope I can create a card with it for him:-)
Hugs to all of you and thanks for listening- I know that you understand and most of my friends do not stamp so they do not understand at all! I hope all of you have a great weekend!
Well, here is my card using the long ago retired Wolf stamp - this is my Anniversary card to my hubby (he loves wolves) and I have never created a complete card with this main wolf image until now - had this stamp for 14 years (still is in perfect condition) :-)
I was thinking that I was kind off to a rough start with this. I've done a lot of crafting this year and thought I wasn't using anything but I am! I just took a look through all my gallery uploads from this year and found 4 cards that used old stamps and almost all of them used never used stamps!! Here's the 4 that used old stamps!
I made this card using an old PTI sentiment stamp (Handwritten Notes) and a die I have never used. I loved all the bright colors in the SSS January card kit and had a lot of small pieces of paper left so this quilt die was perfect. When I got verses out to make this card, I found that I have several ODB sets that have never seen ink! EEEK! But ended up using a stamp out of Trust God. And not all of them been inked up either!
Here is Love for Sue
I would hate to know how many of my stamps have never been used yet.
For example, last Spring I bought Sheltering tree and have never used it on a card. I did however used it on my gift calendars. So the one tree has been inked up, and that is all!
I keep saying I am not getting anymore stamps, and yet I already see something in the Sale-A-Bration! that I want!!! Help me, my name is Sharon and I am stampaholic!
Have to say, I've been on a roll! I've used at least FOUR sets I've never used before! AND embossing folders (3!) AND a punch, all in the last few days! That's because I decided at the last minute to send some cards for this:
I must do better under pressure. lol Mom and I have been putting our heads together and coming up with cards. A few of the sets I used for the first time were: SU "Have a Heart", Unity "That Stinks" and "Otter Nonsense", SU "Good Greetings". I think I've already beat the number of cards I made for all of 2015. haha

Here is a card using In Wilderness! I loved that set and had to have it , but it has been awhile since it has seen ink.
Wild Bday
Look what I used with it! Lovely as a Tree. That set is probably the most used set for everyone! LOL
Houston, we have a problem... The point of this thread is to use stamps we have that have been neglected. NOT to acquire more stamps! I saw this card, loved it and the set you used, and now I'm feeling like I MUST have it. (So what if I have at least a few very similar ones, right?) I even went to grab it off my shelf, I was so sure I had it. I cannot imagine how I didn't buy that set when it came out. :( I confess, I went to EBay to look for it. Only 1 listed, and crazy price, so I resisted. Hopefully I'll get it out of my head and forget about it. lol

Lol!! I know what you mean- some of the uninked stamps in this forum look wonderful...
I just keep telling myself- I do not need anymore stamps...I do not need anymore stamps...I do not need anymore stamps... but I want them, they are so pretty....no, I do not need anymore stamps...I do not need anymore stamps...hehehe....

Pam, thank you for reminding us of this Cards for a Cause forum- I had totally forgotten that this existed and now, I have to decide if I will have the time to participate this month :-)
I love the idea that the cards are being donated to the children.... I am certainly going to do my best to create and send a few (Lord knows I have enough stamps on hand to create the cards for sure!)...
I think the fact that they couldn't have any glitter, buttons or things that could be pulled off and choked on made it both easier and harder for me. I usually always have bling, or stickles or something on my cards. It was a bit harder because I had to stick to basic layouts with no way to cover up goofs. But I think it made it easier because I didn't have to think about the added do-dads. Does that make sense? I made six cards today, thanks to the Broncos playing so badly I had to leave the room the TV was in. lol Too stressful, so I occupied myself with making cards.
Pam, I fully understand what you mean...it is so hard for me to create a card without any accessories...plus I cannot watch football or other team competitive sports- too stressful if my team is doing poorly :-)
Here is Heb. 11:1
I used Verve Bible verse for first time as well as the Woodland EF.
I remember when I got a bunch of these Verve Bible Verses when they had a sale , probably 4 or 5 years ago. I put them all in a plastic clam box (old SU! ones) and then never even use any of them. So this is second one I have used. I am just leaving them out on my cabinet so I can see them! I might start using them in my Bible Journaling, Julie, since I don't like my hand lettering.

Sharon- that is a wonderful card and a great idea to use stamps for Bible Art Journaling....in fact, I am planning on using mine as well (Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps has a few sets that I own as well as all of my Our Daily Bread Design Stamps :-))
Thanks for sharing this and the inspiration you are to all of us- hugs!!
Sorry I'm late joining this challenge but here is my Christmas card using a stamp set I bought quite a few years ago, thought it would be useful as it has Happy Christmas In many languages, seeing as our DIL is Polish I thought I could make a good card for family over there.

Jan, what a fabulous card and so thrilled that you were able to ink up that stamp!! It is never too late to join in on this challenge- we are all here just ot encourage one another to ink up and love on those neglected stamps :-)
I am so hoping to play along..I belong to a monthly SU card class and am always buying stamps and then not using them, not to mention all the ones I already own from other companies! I'm really trying to challenge myself to make at least 3 different cards with each stamp set!

Tampatha- we are all right there with you- lol!! Hope we can encourage you to get those stamps out and have a chance to create a few cards :-)
I know what works for me is to pull out the stamps (especially my unloved/uninked stamps), check out some of our color, sketch and other challenges here at Splitcoaststampers, pull out the challenge colors and just "force" myself to create a card with those colors or layout....sometimes, since I am a type "A" personality, the amount of "stuff" I already own can overwhelm my "creative mojo" and if I limit myself, I tend to free up my mind and then I can design/stamp again- lol!!
Hope to see that you are able to have fun with what you already own!
I made this card today for 2 challenges - first is of course this challenge Useit2016 and I also followed the weekly sketch SC576. I have had this Gina K stamp for a long time and never took it out of the package. I love plants and will be using this stamp again soon. And I plan to try coloring with Copics after I go to a class next week Plant Trio by gosh2fly - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
