Kathy you are correct about red and black. Back when paper ledgers were used, red and black inks were used so you could tell at a glance how a company was doing. That kinda makes me feel old, my first accounting classes were all on paper.
I feel old to! When I first started working at the bank, I balanced the whole bank in a large ledger book in pencil. I used an old adding machine, that had a handle. LOL
I have survived...looks like I missed the big accident...2 cars and a bus...eeeewww...just as kids are getting out of school...but I went a different way...beside I got a pie of homemade strawberry rhubarb pie!!!!!
Hi, arrived in one piece, woke up before our flight with sore throat and cold, just what I needed on a ten hour flight, felt quite crabby but it was a smooth flight, even turned down the last meal, just needed a cup of tea, Steve asked for two!, managed immigration quite quickly as they let us use the computer system seeing as we have Estas and been before and son came to collect us, grandsons were so pleased to see us, Joey playing the piano for us and Charlie singing mule train with grandad! Managed to stay up until ten which was 6.30am English time so we had been awake for twelve hours.
Having a quiet day unpacking today, a bit of lunch and then I'm going to the Cubs with grandsons and DIL, should be fun.
Jan, sorry about traveling with a cold. I have been on a 10 hour flight from Heathrow to Dallas, and it is miserable without a cold. I have never been on a double decker though!
So glad you have this wonderful time there with your kids and grands. What fun you can be there! I just booked a flight to go see our DD and grands later this month. Only 2 hours, tho.
I'll be MIA most of today. Its card class day and I'll be leaving in an hour and will be back after five.
Found a great patch to fix a broken fingernail! I broke it and it would have been too short to cut it off, so I got some super glue and cut a piece the size i needed off a new teabag. I put some superglue around the break and laid the tea bag piece over it. It soaked into the glue and I flattened it and when it dried I used a buffer around the edges and then painted it with a clear polish. It seems to be holding well! I'm hoping it holds long enough for the nail to grow out, then I will trim it!
Looks like rain will be coming today so I'm closing windows when I leave. Still undecided about what SU stuff I'm ordering today.

Hope you had a good time at cubs game.
I'm so glad my family all live close by! You couldn't get me on a plane now unless you do what the A-Team did to BA and knock me out! I flew once, and it wasn't bad. It was in July of 2001, 2 months before 9/11. I just hate traveling totally, not just flying. I'm a homebody and hardly travel outside a 30-40 mile radius of my home! The only thing I wish is that someone would invent a machine that could take me from my home to the shore in seconds and then bring me back so I could sleep in my own bed the same night. I saw the ocean after the age of 30 and I could stand on the shore and look out and listen to the waves all day!

I guess you wouldn't want to be me this week Kathy. 4 flights in 7 days. My first one was just fine, except I had a really chatty neighbour. I was on the aisle and she was at the window and the middle seat was unoccupied. I don't think she flies very much, as she kept pointing things out to me through the window, and she practically told me her whole life story. Me ...........I like to read on the plane Having a good time here in Calgary, and the weather looks great for the wedding this afternoon. My booked hotel room turned out to be a suite, so I am very comfortable here until Monday when I fly to Kelowna, B.C.

Having a quiet morning the grandsons have gone to a birthday party and then piano lessons, still feeling awful and pathetic although I had a lovely afternoon yesterday playing detectives with Joey, we wrote clues and hid them around he house to find a coin, his writing is good enough now for him to write them too, then we played chequers and read a new book we bought him until Charlie arrived home, that's when the peace and quiet stopped!
Have a great time Ina, a suite sounds lovely, hope the wedding goes well, we had a group of six men in front of us on the flight from Spain, been on a boys weekend, they were talking so loud I couldn't hear my podcast.
Kathy you are lucky living close to your family, so wish ours did.
I'm home. Eating a roast beef sandwich. We had donuts, chips, coffee, and candy at demos so I figured I'd better get some food in me. Added lettuce tomato and onion and swiss cheese.
Spent $82? But some of that was tax and shipping. Do we add the tax and shipping in our spending?
I need anniversary cards so I'm loving the challenge!

OK, I'll count it all... :( LOL. It makes it easier but my totals are going up. But I guess its really about the spending and I'm spending on tax and shipping so it will be included. Spent $86.28. Glad the two ink refills were freebies! We share hostess credits!

Bad Lynn
Never wore bloomers in my life, but they do look rather comfy! I thought bloomer was something you eat! Boy was I disappointed! LOL now you got me giggling!

Well I know in England they sell a bread loaf that is called a bloomer but my grandma always wore bloomers, big ones too with elasticated legs, never seen any for sale now though.
Seems strange to be on similar time line, I'm used to being in bed when you are chatting.
Going to have my nails done and then lunch, not sure where they are taking us.
Took a Sunday drive to acmoore and Michaels and guess what? I didn't spend a dime. While in acmoore it literally poured buckets of water. I had to walk around a while to wait it out because I didn't want soaked. Its still pouring. We needed the rain so I won't complain. Just glad to be inside!

Any ideas on how to keep birds away? I have bird poop on my front deck and railing and on my trellis outback and yardswing. I'd like to deter the birds, but I want my hummingbirds! Any ideas?

I really don't know...have the Hawks which keeps the pigeons away!
Ok so it was very muggy!!!! Then it poured rain...thankfully the bevel ride for heart was finished..they close the dvp and cyclists ride...it becomes quite a sight!!! I should have taken pictures
Grumpy and gf are home from their first trip...if I was feeling better we could go out for dinner!
Got a DD coffee on the way home. Had coupons in the paper so it was only 1.05 for a medium. But....when we pulled up to the window she asked if I wanted a second cup! They goofed and made two! I take cream and sugar. So I put one in the fridge for breakfast tomorrow! And I didn't have to pay for it!

I got dive-bombed by a crow this morning. It actually touched my hair. The hotel I am staying in is in the warehouse district, and I've gone for walks the past two mornings. This morning I had an eventful walk and I was so happy I brought along my camera. First of all I saw a bird I had seen yesterday. I checked it out and it was a magpie, which is a scavenger bird, but very pretty. No luck getting a photo and later in the day, when I didn't have my camera, there were three of them here on the lawn almost begging me to take a picture. As I was trying to get a photo of the magpie, I heard a soft short whistle and thinking it was a bird I looked at the ground where it came from and it was a cute little Franklin ground squirrel (at the time I thought they were badgers, but they're not) As soon as I saw one, I managed to see lots of them, and they have a whole system of tunnels that they crawl in and out of. So cute, but apparently a nuisance to the farmers. Then the planes started flying overhead on the way to the airport and I saw a cool photo op, of them flying over a church. Chatted with a lovely black man who lives in the neighbourhood and soon afterwards met two Muslim ladies who were too shy to say much. When I turned around and started walking back to the hotel, a couple around my age were watching the ground squirrels and asked me what they were. At that time I thought they were badgers. As we talked,I noticed they had accents, and asked where they came from and they said Holland. They were surprised when I answered them in Dutch, so we had a lovely conversation. And that all happened before breakfast!
