Catherine, I picked out the Pekingnese from the pet store. I seem to like dogs with the pushed in faces. He lived for 16 years and was the most aggressive of any if our pets. We had a Corgi, who lived 10 - 12 years. He was a gentle dog and liked everyone except for my inlaws. They irritated him for some reason. We had a keeshond. She looks like she wore glasses and had a lot of hair. They were bred in The Netherlands and have a full undercoat, so her hair never stopped. She was a joy. She had a happy personality. She lived 10 years or so. We also had an Irish Setter, I think. She was a kind and lovable dog. She visited the day care for pet day, where our daughter went. The cat was my little sister's and there were issues with fighting about the cat. I was keeping her till they could take her back, but she continued to live with us for the rest of her life. She lived to 16. She blew out her knee and had surgery. The dogs chased her, she got caught up in a plastic bag, and blew out her knee like football players. She was a gentle cat and loved going into our backyard. Her front claws were declawed, but we had a 6 foot chainlink fence and she never tried to leave.

Hello ladies, well I did have a crafty day. It was hot out however I just looked out the window and the wind is so strong I believe we will have a tree down. This wind came out of nowhere. Crazy.
Kathy - Congrats!!!!
Catherine - lol yes, it is a lot of work. Having OCD helps in that department tho. lol Another trick I do is I spray everything with cleaner first (just walk around the room and spray cleaner on everything)....then you have no choice but to clean it.
Lisa - I understand. We have 4 dogs. The St. Bernard (Bruno), his vet bills are crazy just because of his size. However, luckily we have healthy animals. The newest, Noel, goes in to get fixed in June. We do not have the pet insurance. Don't ask me why, other than I hate dealing with insurance.
Well ladies, I took a look at this week's gallery and wow beautiful creations everyone.
Friday Dawn is going to help me stamp every single stamp set and stamp I have so that I can catalog them. I'm wondering if it can be done in one day. lol So many stamps so little time. lol
I do hope everyone has a great night. I will check in tomorrow. I have to go in to get my pain pump filled then I think it will be another card making day.
Hugs to all.

Dani, do you have any shower cleaning suggestions? I've been putting it off way too long and it's really going to need a good scrubbing. They say first cleaning the shower curtain you put it in the washer with two large towels and I believe you use baking soda. I'll have to look that recipe up again.

Good morning from wet and rainy Northern California! It was 60 degrees in the house yesterday when I got home from work. I didn't want to build a fire so I just put on more layers. DH built a fire when he got home (which I figured he would do). We are enjoying the weather.

There is a tree coming down in the end of the court this morning. Our neighbor has had to change where they park because this was coming and I saw the trucks today. I feel badly for the guys doing the work in the rain but they have the gear for that.

Lisa, our dog named Honey was a poodle/shih tzu mix and she was so sweet like her name. She wasn't a regular dog, we determined that she had been abused in the past and probably by a man because she warmed up to DH much more slowly than the girls and I. She was pretty quiet but when she was asleep she snored...loudly! I think it was that short nose thing. When we took her in, we were assured she had been fixed...not correct! So we paid for that surgery and, while they had her under, they removed some rotten teeth and they called us about a mass they found in her breast area so they took care of that too. We didn't have pet insurance either. And post-surgery, I was beginning to wonder if she was going to recover but she did. She was our miracle dog because she got away from the enclosure here in the foothills where she would go to the bathroom and was missing for 3.5 days. I figured we'd never know what happened to her and that she was a fun sized snack for all the wild animals up here but 3.5 days of missing her, DH got a call on his cell phone from someone who had found her wandering and DH's cell phone number was on her tag. We were so thankful to get her back (that was another vet visit to check her out) and we were blessed with several more years with her.

Kathy, I'm not the amazing house cleaner that Dani is but I use the thing with the extendable handle and get down on my knees with a sponge for more in depth cleaning after that. I spray my cleaner all over the shower and clean other parts of the bathroom while letting the cleaner work on the shower. I like to believe that helps! I have fabric shower curtains in the front bathroom and I wash them regularly but I like the fabric ones because I don't have to worry about the special washing instructions. Our shower has glass doors which is an entirely different headache.

Dani, 4 dogs sounds expensive to me for vet bills! A former co-worker had a huge dog (can't remember what kind now, I felt badly for that dog being here in hot Sacramento area) and her dog had allergies so she was quite thankful for the pet insurance she had on him.

Kathy, I need to go check out your share a tip thread again.

Hello everyone...just taking a break from card making. I bathed Noel and her face is filthy already, ugh. Anyways....Kathy.. I use a Ryobi battery operated scrub brush along with either Dawn Heavy Duty Powerwash or Thunderblast. They are both fantastic at getting off soap scum. I do mop down my shower every other day as well. As for a shower curtain.. the only one I have in my home is in the guest bathroom and that one is fabric so I just throw it in the washer. I hope this helps.
Well, I am going to go ahead and make another card. My friend needs a "Congrats on your New House" card. I've never made one of those before so....wish me luck on this one.
I hope everyone has a fantastic day and gets to have some crafting time.
Hugs
Dani

I think I will look into an electric (battery operated) brush. That would take the pressure off of my arms. I have Dawn power wash. I also have a brush like Catherine has.i think I will tackle it first thing in the morning. I don't clean it as often as I should but I do use one of those smiley faced scrubbers. I let it in the bottom of the shower and when I'm done I shut the water off and use my foot on the scratcher/scrubber and clean it. I'm trying to talk the guys into doing that too.i will try the places I can reach standing first, then I'm prepared to sit because bending and squatting won't work for me

Please keep my best friend and her husband in prayer. He had back surgery on March 27th and was doing well but all of a sudden he started having issues like vertigo and he lost appetite. She finally made him go to the doctor and they did a CT scan. They found a small Mass on his pancreas and another two masses on his lung. I'm not sure what's next but this is devastated them as it came out of left field.

Praying for your best friend and her dh, Kathy.

Re shower cleaning. I haven't tried it yet, but the show I was watching said to use super fine steel wool 0000 to clean your shower.

Trying to figure out what is now going on with my windows 10 computer. Can't edit pictures of a card. Was working fine yesterday. And now not today.

I thought Windows 10 was the release that needed to be replaced as they were no longer supporting it. That is in the back of my head anyway, and I could be remembering it incorrectly. We had to replace my computer as it was running Windows 10 and we went to a Linux machine. We also have a Windows 11 just for when absolutely necessary like doing taxes. Good Luck Shirl.

Kathy, sorry about what is going on with your friend's husband. This explains his loss of appetite. Will be keeping him in prayer and her too. That is quite the shock to deal with.

Thanks Lisa.....Well someone must have said a good prayer, because I just now was able to fix my card photo and upload it.

Yes, windows 10 is not supported but it still works fine for me.

I am married to a computer guy and when something is not supported, we replace it. This was major to him as my computer is used for online shopping and banking. I am glad it is working for you.

Now my phone is no longer supported but I do not really do much with it. He is looking for a replacement but hasn't found what I want. He is looking at refurbished Apple ones.

I probably could use a new computer, but I am not looking forward to learning a new way with windows 11. I figure I will have many questions when I get a new one and since dh is not here to help me learn it, I will be lost. My step son will help me buy one, but everything was so much easier when John was right here and I could quickly ask him.

Happy Friday to everyone, especially Catherine, who doesn't have to work today! Friday still feels like a good day to me, even though I no longer work. However yesterday, even though I knew very well it was Thursday because I had a haircut at 10, I thought it was Friday in SCS Land because I was checking the F4A and MIX. Sheesh.
I rarely need to take allergy meds with Poppy; the only thing I may do is a eye drop, just over the counter, if they start to itch. Now with my new diagnosis of dry eye, I use OTC drops like Systane, I use a foam on my eye lids to get my eye oils moving, I have an eye mask that I have to heat and put on for 15 minutes and now I have an eye ointment for over night. I don't like the ointment, it's very gooey. I also have to double how much water I drink. I have been drinking what feels to me like a lot but it isn't enough. My eye oils are very thick and don't move enough. They should be like olive oil. My cataracts are not even close to being ready, sometimes I wonder if I will die with them still there, so dealing with this dry eye is my best option to improve my vision. On the drive down to SE WI last Thursday, my eyes started to burn and I just wanted to stop and close my eyes. I have always been protective of my eyes, couldn't wear contacts ever. I also have the start of some macular degeneration but it isn't even a diagnosis and it could just be age related. If it continues, I'm screwed.
My son had a bad car accident last Friday night on the way home from work. I was going to stay with them on Friday and Saturday night but he was so upset, I decided to stay with a friend instead. He is fine, not hurt, but angry. Here is what happened: there is a lot of road construction in Milwaukee, especially past the stadium where the Brewers play. He works west of home and his commute has been very long. He was in the middle lane, a cab of a semi was in the left, only going about 35 mph, when all of a sudden, his car was attached to the cab and was dragged a ways. I don't know how other cars weren't involved as I'm guessing it was bumper to bumper and I don't know how they were able to pull off the freeway. His car is very badly scraped on the driver side, driver door won't open (window goes up and down). The truck driver claims he didn't encroach into Joe's lane and Joe is worried he zoned out after a 50 hour work week. But I think the truck driver must have done something. He just payed off that car. He is thinking he needs to find another place to work so he doesn't have that long commute so they may move closer to Madison, the capitol of WI. That would make him closer to me so I'm happy about that. So the weekend was fraught with some issues. I grateful he is ok.
My time with my twirly girlies was good...Starbucks, Rudy's Drive In, movies. They are super girls, cooked dinner for me, Clare made me one of her signature smoothies. Life is good.
Shirl, I'm sorry about the computer and the fact that your husband isn't there to help. Because I'm the only one in the family who uses windows and has an android, no one can help me. However my daughter asked me how I did something on my laptop that they couldn't figure out so I guess I'm not as dumb as I look.
Lisa, INSURANCE!!!! Bah humbug! To continue to see my eye doctor for this dry eye, I will have to pay a $60 copay each time and I have another appointment in two months. Arghghgh. Not happy with my Medicare plan but there isn't anything better.
So my daughter and husband are home from Germany but the whole family is leaving for a driving vacation, probably on Sunday. Driving vacation was already planned, the trip to Germany was last minute. The Lama that started the type of Buddhism they follow died and they wanted to go there to honor him. Yes there are different types of Buddhism, just like a lot of other faiths. They don't follow the Dalai Lama, they have their own 'Karmapa.' They are happy they went but exhausted. I think Liz would like to skip the driving trip (to California!) but the girls want to go, Scott wants to go and they have the time off. They may change their plans and drive out east. About 10 hours less driving than CA.
It has been pretty hot here, anxious to get my central AC, which will start being installed June 16. The kitty Poppy is very affected by the heat, she is sleeping more. She has a very thick coat and is shedding a mountain of fur.
I don't think I told you all (sorry if I did) that the drawing group went to Goose Island last week, which is more of a peninsula into the river. I get antsy sitting still for a while so I walked over where a few of us were sitting and there was a big fat snake. I could have very easily stepped on it because it was very dry looking, sitting in the sun and blended in with the weeds, plus the snake looked like a big long brown turd! Turns out, it was two snakes mating. We think they were bull snakes, which resemble rattlers (a defense mechanism). Holy cow, I haven't seen many snakes since I was a kid, garter snakes only. And I saw a diamond back when I visited Gracie in Arizona in the Fall of 2024. That was scary. Bull snakes aren't venomous although they do tend to bite and that's painful. This past Wednesday we drew on an overlook down on the Mississippi in MN. It was so gorgeous, a nice breeze even though it was hot. This area is so beautiful, I'm so glad I moved here. In case you are wondering, my drawing skills are not improving much, I'm just trying to do my best and not worrying how my stuff looks next to theirs, which are magnificent. I have started buying their art, little by little. i don't 'need' more art but it's how I like to support them. And I can't help myself, it's so beautiful.
Well tootle loo, everyone, always thinking of all of you. Be well.

Jean, glad you have a plan going to help those dry eyes. I have a very good ophthalmologist. My mother had glaucoma as did her father, so I have done the peripheral vision tests to chart everything and also because my optic nerve was affected with my MS. That was part of the MS diagnosis. I am not sure if my eyes are just dry or a medication caused it. They have been dry for 10 years at least. I used to wear contacts but they were spending more time in the case than my eyes so I went back to glasses. I think my eyes were getting irritated a lot from allergies and seemed dry. I was always putting drops in. So, I use a prescription drop that is thicker than an OTC, every 12 hours. I supplement it with an OTC. I like Refresh drops. I use hot wash cloths 3 or 4 times a day. Now, I see my doctor in two weeks, so she might want me to use something different than Refresh. She gave me a sample of another kind that I think was Systane, but am not sure. I used it, did okay, but didn't keep the box.

I could never wear contact lenses. Had ones that were 75% water and they still bothered my eyes. Good thing I don't mind wearing glasses.

I think Omega 3's are good for dry eyes. I used HydraSense for grittiness feeling after my cataract surgery.

Jean, sorry to hear about your son's accident. Accidents are always scary and so upsetting.

Lisa, my Mom had glaucoma and her grandfather went blind from it. Fortunately no worries about that for me yet. I use Systane because my eye doc recommended it. It's preservative-free. I take fish oil anyway for cholesterol, I just need to up my dosage and when I run out, buy a brand that contains triglycerides. Diet is also important so I need to read up on that. I won't give up ice cream though. Life is short.

I think she wants me to use the prescription one every 12 hours and this Systane PRO 3 times a day, and hot wash cloths several times a day as needed. I haven't purchased the Systane as I had a few boxes of Refresh. I will double check everything when I see her. I need to have her give me a new eyeglasses prescription so I can get new ones. Mine are 6 years old, at least, and I have issues seeing well at times. She will write the prescription but doesn't sell glasses. I will probably try an online one as long as my husband can help me figure it out. We did not renew our vision insurance this year so I will go the budget route.

I had a slight change in my prescription for the good eye. My bad eye is hopeless, the lense is very thick so she thinks we can reduce the prescription so it's thinner. However I spent a boatload on glasses last year because of poor coverage so if I go forward, I too will need to go budget. I should have searched for a cheaper place to get glasses. And I love my frames but they don't let you keep the frame unless you send them along with the order. Can't do without. What a vicious cycle.

My last pair of glasses cost a little over $300 at Walmart. I think that's good because DH paid $900 for his last pair!! I had anti-reflective and progressive lenses (no line) but not the transition (sunglass). I think I also have an astigmatism. Dad had glaucoma and used special drops. My pressures have always been high and I've had a horseshoe tear on my retina that had to be "welded" by laser. The doctor always thought my prayers were high because I have thick corneas. But they watch me closely. And if I see a difference I call them immediately. That's how we found out I have ocular migraines. Because I don't have pain, just visual disturbances.

I sent a message to an oral surgeons office. I'm trying to find someone who can get me in before my jaw starts with infection again. I've been on a wait list at Geisinger since February or early March. I called the other day and I'm still on that wait list. I might have been able to get in sooner if I wanted to travel to Wilkes-Barre but I don't want to travel that far. That would mean traveling home for two and who knows how I'll feel after they pull that. And it's going to be more than just pulling a tooth. They're going to have to dig under the gum, find it and get it out.

It is a rainy day here. It looked like night when this rainstorm started. I need to get busy doing something. I have pieces of my red card for this week colored and now, I need to continue to get it finished. My inspiration is lacking, though, with the dreary weather.

Yesterday, I found a die set and a sticky mat for my Misti that had been in the back of my head for some time. The price was right, but when shipping and sales tax were added, it negated the price and I let it go. It will wait till I am ready to pay shipping, or spend more money to hit the free shipping. It has gotten harder to hit free shipping as the cost continues to rise. Gina K is still at $50 but everyone else has raised it to $75 or $100. There is another at $50, Creative Worship Stamps. I haven't purchased from them but know som who have and they had a good experience. My husband calls this "saving me money."

Good morning! Somehow I missed posting last Friday. I know why, because I got up and went to pick up Codi to give her a ride to work. I'm happy to report that Codi and her hubby acquired a Dodge Caravan on the weekend so she has wheels now. I'm praying that they are good, reliable wheels for them.

We've had rain but I think we are now back to sunshine and warming up for summer.

I managed to make time to craft over the weekend. I realized that I haven't been making Christmas cards like I should be so got five Christmas cards made this weekend.

We also made homemade tofu this weekend. One of the YouTube channels I watch showed how "easy" it was and how it was so much tastier than store bought. DH was really into trying this out. There is one step that I don't think is all that easy but we did it.

I had forgotten about the battery powered shower cleaners. That may be my next option but the extending handle one works well for me now.

Praying for your friend and her hubby, Kathy.

Shirl, I'm glad your computer decided to cooperate.

I tried contacts when I was in my teens. First I tried hard contacts...felt like rocks in my eyes. Then I tried soft contacts...felt like smaller rocks in my eyes so contacts were a no go for me.

There goes my alarm, I've got to get out of here and head to work. Chat with you later!

I only have a walk-in shower. I can't go on my knees anymore. My solution: clean it while I'm showering. I finish cleaning myself, then I clean the shower. I have a small scrub brush that gets in the corners and a broom type thing for the floor. Then I use a spray on the wall, no scrubbing in particular needed.

Jean we only have a walk-in shower too. I used to spray it after every shower but got out of the habit. I do use that smiley scrubber with my foot. When I'm done showering I use my foot to scrub. It helps.

I got a bill in the mail today. Actually it said it was past due and I needed to make arrangements to pay it or it would be turned over to collections! I called them right away because I sent that check a month ago, as soon as I got the bill and it was cashed 5 days after I sent it! She took a look and said I have a zero balance and that it was just posted. Apparently someone was behind and bill's got sent out anyway. She said to just ignore the bill. I pay my bills the day I get them.

About 45 minutes ago I took those four dulcolax pills to get the system moving. At 6:00 I will start the miralax. Oh joy!

Interesting how differently doctor choose the prep. I had to drink a gallon at least of some junk called Go-lightly or something silly like that. Very salty and a bit thick. A clear lemon drink saved me. My stomach hurts thinking about it.

I took the four pills at 3 and then the miralax in gatorade (round one) and the only thing I've done so far is dryheave a couple of times! Round two starts at 2:30 a.m. If I don't clean out by the second round I will have to cancel and if I cancel, I'm not rescheduling! I got my shower some most things are checked off the list!

G'mornin everyone. I do hope everyone is doing well. I am so sorry...I am so behind on the chatter. I did finally finish cataloging my stamps. Well all of them except the ones that are still on wood blocks. I don't know that I will catalog those, I hardly ever use them. But it feels great that what I have is done. I also had some time to make cards. In fact, once I am done here I am going to make one more then go work on the yard. After that I am hoping to sit back on here and play catch up..with chatter and the galleries.
I do hope everyone has a great day. I also hope everyone gets a chance to be creative today.
Hugs
Dani

Good morning! We are in the last few weeks before VBS so it is crunch time. Yesterday I helped DD2 by taking her car to fill it up so she wouldn't have to when she was ready to head home. Of course she came down to the church after a six hour shift at Michaels that started at 3:00 am!

I'm happy to report that her co-worker, Codi, has a functioning car once again. Still just one car for the family but they make it work. DH and I made it work in southern California too though it isn't always convenient.

Kathy, I hope your prep work went well. I'm sure receiving that bill got your heart pumping, it would mine!

Dani, are you going to remove your stamps from the wood blocks? I did that and am so happy I did. In fact, I think I'm going to unmount my wheel stamps next. I will probably use them more if I do that.

I tried to comment on Ann's card but it just keeps spinning. I tried a couple times. I will try again tomorrow, but I love the scene she's created!

Good morning! Last night I stayed up way too late making a twisted pop-up birthday card for my boss. I should have made it weeks ago but, obviously, didn't get it done until last night because that is when inspiration struck. I haven't uploaded it to my gallery yet but do plan to do so.

Ann, I did make a Christmas card for the red color challenge.

Kathy, were you ever able to comment on Ann's card?

Kathy, your question about my embossing on my red card is that I embossed the entire card front, including the roses. It helped give it texture and get those roses flat. I fussy cut them, so they were each cut differently and the embossing helped hide the differences and lay them flatter. It was a free set. They have dies available. I have them in a cart but am in no hurry to shop.

I was looking at Gina K Designs new release. She has a new kit, which is lovely, but the price has risen. This one is $69.99. I think that is $10 higher than the last one I saw. I did not watch her video and she may have explained it. Is this an increase in tariffs or because it is packed with many items?

Catherine, I just fixed my commenting issue. Somehow the tablet had changed views. I went into chrome and set it to desktop view and now it works fine.

Lisa I'm going to go look at that card again. I love when I see something cool and can't figure out how it was done.

Lisa, that was a cool effect! I didn't realize they were fussycit and by you embossing the whole thing first, they fit in perfectly!

Good morning! Goodness, DD2 was just telling me about Codi's new to her van. A light had gotten left on and so it ran down the battery enough that she couldn't start it. She was at work and so got a female co-worker to give her a jump and it started just fine. She ran it a bit and went back in to work. Then, when she came out to leave, she found out she hadn't run it long enough so she needed another jump start. She asked one of the male managers if he could give her a jump start and he said he thought his car was too small to jump start her car. She then asked the store manager who also happens to be male and he gave her the same response (which is ridiculous as he drives a big pick up). She told DD2 that when the female co-worker helped her, she just hooked the things right up and it started and the whole process took a couple minutes. The store manager finally agreed to do it, he hooked up the jumper cables and Codi thought, "I don't think that is quite right" but she didn't want to correct him. They tried it, it didn't start. He fiddled around and finally got it correct and her van started right up. She now thinks that neither of them wanted to do it because they aren't very familiar with how to do it. The first manager she asked has jump started our van for us once but we had the jumper cables and hooked it up so maybe they don't know how. It is so strange to me because my dad and my DH have always been very handy, could fix anything, type guys but I believe they are getting more rare these days (at least in California). Thankfully, though, she was correct that it was just a light that got left on and her van is just fine.

Lisa, I went and looked at Gina's new kit and, to me, it looks like a bigger kit than in the past so probably why the increased price. Of course, everything is going up in price anyway.

No, I glued down each piece first, then embossed the card front. Then I glued it to the black layer, then the red card base. I think the embossing hides the fussy cutting that are each a bit different from each other. I do not do a great job of keeping the same border width around the image.

Girl power...I love it! I agree about people being less handy. Fortunately my son in law is pretty handy, although he tends to not finish projects, like my outside faucet which is leaking.

I called another oral surgeon and got a consult dateforJuly6th. They, of course, needed a referral. I asked if it had to be from a dentist or my family doctor and she said it didn't matter. So I had my family doctor print out his first referral and then I went to take it over to this other office. She said the referral is not specific enough. So I called my dentist and asked if they could do another referral for this office. The office wants to know which side and which tooth. I don't know how my dentist would know that without seeing it but they did if referral and then I ran it back down to the other office and they said that one was perfect so I'm still on the schedule. At least I got a date. I still haven't heard back from the other one so I'm not sure how long of a wait list they have. The one I made the appointment was today is someone I had seen years ago. I think they might have pulled a tooth at least 20 years ago but they still had some of my information in their computer system. Or maybe they can just access through the pcp doctor's office.

Constant peeping all day and trucks and different big equipment going in and out of our subdivision!!
And they are starting at 5 A.M.!!

It's warm out so I closed up the house, so the noises are a bit quieter.

They are redoing the roads in and around our entire subdivision! They just took out a portion of our brand new driveway!

More bad news, one of our huskies got Lyme Disease. And it's from our own yard!! YIKES! Son began spraying for bugs! You should have seen the movement of bugs off the grass and swimming, looking drunk bugs to the sidewalk!

I didn't know that ticks will live even in weather down to 35 degrees! So even in our winters you can get a bite!

Thank you ladies for the wonderful comments on my paintings, so appreciated!

Have a wonderful day all!

So sad about your dog, Ann. I didn't know ticks could live in that cold temp either. We stop the Flea and Tick medication during the winter to save money. We only have the cat now and she only goes outside with my daughter. She has to wear a harness and leash to go out and she acts like it is so heavy. She has to be carried out the door as she just can't move with all of that weight. But, open that door without the harness and she is lightening fast.
