Are the gremlins also making the little green triangles hang on and on and on? They still appear this morning on threads that have the last posts early yesterday. And I have been on SCS several times since that time. They should be gone by now, and only mark the ones that had posts since I was last on about 8 or so last night. Maybe the parameters have changed?
I moved this to it's own thread because it's not related. Helps us
Okay - are you talking about the icon for "go to first new post" in thread?
I'm not sure I know which you are talking about. A thread example would help too.
I've had this same issue. I am in chrome. I always start on my subscription page and read any new posts, but sometimes it shows there are new posts when I've already read them.
Spoke too soon. I just went in and read some threads that showed new posts, but nothing I hadn't already read. Commence with the hair pulling. When you are bald, you can start using my hair! LOL
It is the little green triangle. Example: I go to General Stamping Talk. Each thread that has new posts in it since I was last online has the green triangle. Normally I just browse those, since they have new posts.
But for the last few days, those green triangles don't ever clear. Tonight I have green triangles on all the threads (in all the forums I usually visit) back to Monday night, sometime between 6:45 and 8:30. But I have been on SCS at least 6 or 8 times since Monday night. I'm attaching a screenshot of page 2 of General Stamping Talk from tonight. You can see the dates of the threads with the green triangles.
I just checked the "green triangle not going away when I've read the thread" issue for me...It doesn't go away when I read the thread and go back to the forum page. But if I reload the page, it does go away, indicating I read the thread.

I'm also having the problem with "first unread threads" since Mon. night. I've been on SCS more than a dozen times and the threads I've already looked at are seeing showing as unread. I'm using Firefox.
My Go To button is New Posts where I usually get 5 or 6 pages. Since the update I have had 11 or 12 showing. When I looked today for the first time it showed 12, I had already seen 7 of these yesterday. (I'd never even noticed the green arrows before reading this thread!)
OK....here's what I'm seeing. I shut down last night after having read all new posts in my subscriptions. This morning I came back on and those I had read now had the green arrow showing there was unread posts. I went into one I was positive I had read last night. That was "having problems staying logged in". I read it and then clicked on my subscriptions and it is showing it is read now. From that one down there are several more I know I've read but are showing as unread posts. It will show they are read as I go into each one but when the tablet is shut down and turned back on, the arrows show up again.
First, I'm simple in my habits here. I don't use subscriptions. I don't use email notifications. I just go to the forums and I visit a half dozen of them every time I'm on.
Next, let's use General stamping talk for an example. I click on General stamping talk and it shows me the whole list of threads. Stickies on top, threads with most recent posts at the top after that. There's a little green triangle that tells me which threads have had new posts since the last time I was on SCS. I don't look at any threads but the ones with the green arrow, since I only want to look at the new responses, if any. If I open the thread to read it, then when I go back to the forums, the green triangle is gone on that thread I just read.
I use the green arrow on the forum page to click to the last unread post instead of scrolling down thru the page to find which ones I haven't read.
Then I close SCS. When I come back in 4-12 hours (no, I can't go without my fix at least every 12 hours!), the green triangles again show me just what has had new posts since the last time I was on.
All that is the NORMAL way it works for me.
BUT...that isn't how it has been working since Monday. When I come back, the green arrows are there for every post since Monday night. Every time I come back they are still there. I have been having to look at the dates to see if I want to look at the thread or not. And if I click on the green arrow to 'go to the last unread post', it takes me to posts on Monday. When I posted the screenshot back up in post 14, you can see that the green arrows are on for all the threads from Monday night on. They were still that way this morning.
I just went to my history. (on Firefox) I deleted EVERY SCS page I had visited from my history.
(I know I could have cleared everything with one fell swoop, but I have some genealogy pages I didn't want to take out with said swoop.)
Now I don't have any arrows. That's understandable.
So. I'll come back around lunchtime. I should have arrows for new posts by then. And I'll come back late in the afternoon. By then, some should have cleared. We'll see what happens.
And I read Sabrina's post here from this morning, and it seems to be a related issue. Like something is being "hung onto" or "not updated" or "not cleared" or something!
When I cleaned out my SCS history, I cleaned out 5 months. But the problem has only been happening since Monday.
After leaving SCS just after my post at 8:42 this morning, I returned at 10, again at 11:50, again at 1:30 and now, at 4.
All the threads that have had new posts since I cleared my history of all SCS are still showing green triangles, whether or not they have new posts, and regardless of how many times I visited the forum.
OK--I am having a similar issue. In my subscriptions, I click on the green arrow to go to the newest post. It always takes me back to Tuesday, and I have been on SCS numerous times a day since then. I have even posted some new posts in most of the threads and the green arrow still takes me back to Tuesday.
I am using IE, but I just checked wit Chrome and the same thing happens--back to Tuesday!
This thread has made me laugh. I am SO unobservant sometimes. Like Diane I don't really use subscriptions for general threads (I do for challenges and suchlike), I just go to the forums that interest me and look at the threads with recent posts. I never even realised that there were green arrows,. And now DH is singing "Little arrows everywhere" to me .
As Barb mentioned, each day I come back on the arrows come back on through Tuesday, the 26th. It appears that I have new posts back that far but I've read all those last night.
I'm having this problem too. All of the threads are showing up with green arrows as far back as 8/25. Everything older than that doesn't have a green "unread posts" arrow. I have only a few subscriptions, but none of these threads are among them.
Yes, its holiday weekend and everyone needs a day off now and then! LOL I'm sure they will get us all fixed up soon. I'm so ocd that I clear the arrows over and over! LOL
Lately when I get a notification that someone has replied to a thread I've been following and I cut & paste to go to the thread, I always go to the start of the thread rather than the last unread comment. Does this have something to do with the last maintenance check up for SCS?
Lydia, you are amazing and fast!!! I just received an e-mail notification and when I copy and pasted the url, I went right to the last unread comment. Yay! Thank you so much!
