I posted a thread in current events about an actress. She was critically injured. Now if I was posting about the fact that I like her and think she's a good actress, I would think it would be appropriate for the Entertainment forum. But since she's critically ill and it's all over the news, I think it should be a current event.
If it involves any celebrity is it automatically an entertainment thread?
Sometimes I wonder where the line gets blurred, too. I started to post something the other day...something about a celeb dying and politics that 'seemed' to be a fit for CE, but then I wasn't sure...
As Betsy said, it's a blurry line.
For entertainment celebrities, the mods make the decision on a case-by-case basis.
We also don't want to end up with duplicate threads ... and entertainment things can end up that way.
In this case, I made the decision because, although her accident is tragic, it doesn't fit into what we generally discuss in Current Events. If you've got other questions about this particular case, feel free to send me a PM.
I think it should be moved back. CE is more than just politics (at least it used to be). We discussed a wide range of topics (including but not limited to politics, like it seems to be now).
I think the dilemna/ethics of having someone on life support/taking them off could be discussed, as well as the risks and responsibilites of persons when engaging in potentially dangerous sports.

I agree with the bolded paragraph. However, if I remember correctly, the OP of that particular thread did not discuss those things. I *think* if it had, then the mods would have probably left it. If I remember correctly (and that is a task at this age LOL), the OP just mentioned the accident and liking the actress in a particular role and offered well wishes or something along those lines.
I certainly do not want to speak for CE mods, just as a participant, but I do think if some of those issues had been addressed in the OP, then the mods would have probably left it in CE, KWIM?

Christine's pretty much got it. (she's better with words than I am).
