Have no clue who this should be addressed to, so I'm trying here. If it's in the wrong place, please advise where I need to be posting - thanks.
I have had problems with a few of my cards disappearing. I know I have to watch to make sure I haven't named the card the same thing as before, and I haven't but some still go to "the land of the other sock", or the great card place in the sky.
I now put WRM in front of all my picture names to help eliminate dups with the rest of the gallery uploads.
Could it be that the digital camera image number is the same for two cards? This is the only thing I can think of. I take about 4 pics of each card and then pick the best to upload. End up deleting a bunch of card pics off my camera and then taking more so some of the image numbers could be the same on two cards. Clear as mud?
Can somebody help. I hate to lose the comments people so graciously take the time to leave (nice pick me up on "bad card days"). Many thanks!

Hi there! We have a sticky post explaining why cards go the way of the other sock. . . and yep, it's that original file name. Your best bet would be to totally rename the file. If you have any questions, let me know. I'm happy to help!
Thanks for the reply. I read the sticky a while back.
I've decided I'm going to keep a list of the names I put down on a spreadsheet to make sure it isn't a repeat. That way I can make sure there isn't a duplicate. If they still disappear, I'm coming a lookin' - LOL
Whiterockmama, when I prepared the pics from my camera I used a file naming convention where I took the name of the main stamp set (or part of it), and combined it with my username and a number. No duplicates!

I'll jump on to this thread rather than start a new one...
I just went to check my gallery (I am on the prowl for affirmation, looking for a new comment for whatever reason today)...there are at least 6 cards missing (sorry, I can't remember how many I used to have) since this weekend. I thought I was always careful to rename my files, and have never lost gallery entries in the past.
Anyone know if the gallery has gone wonky??
Thanks for any info!
Kathy
ETA: I have gone back through my personal gallery on my PC...my Splitcoast Gallery is missing things between 2006 and now...the challenges from the DD last summer, things since then. Probably 10 - 12 cards are gone.
Are the servers dedicated by time frame? Is one offline?
Arrrrgh!!! I just had a card I posted yesterday with close to 400 views and 18 comments disappear!! It was the FS challenge combined with the LSC of last week.
When I first loaded the picture I forgot to change the image number from the digital camera. I remember about an hour later that I had to do that so I would have the same image number on two card pics, so I changed the digital image name on my computer and then edited my picture on SCS by changing the picture to be used (by the browse button on the edit page) and submited it to change.
My only thought is I didn't rebuild the thumbnail as well. Could this be a problem, or was it the fact that I reloaded the file?
Help.....! Assume my card is gone to the land of the other sock again and will have to be reloaded once I figure out what I did wrong?
I just noticed my first missing card today. Thanks for the info. I've probably lost them before and had no idea! I rename the cards in a hit or miss fashion on my PC so... will work on that!
