Avatar Problems

Hi!

I'm trying to change my Avatar. I rezised a photograph in AdobePhotoshop Elements. It's 53x80 pixels, and 14.46 KB and I'm still getting this message when I try to post it:

The file that you have tried to attach is too big. The maximum size is 16000 bytes.


What am I doing wrong?

I *think* it needs to be under 12 kb
